Mike spent most of his childhood traveling with his father, a bull rider in a rodeo show. Sadly, his father developed prostate cancer and had to retire from his job; which resulted in the family falling on hard times. After Mike graduated from community college, he took up a job as a welder to help pay for his father's medical bills, but it wasn't enough to get his family out of debt; their financial problems got steadily worse after his father lost his battle with cancer.
Mike joined Mann Co. as a last resort to keep his family from losing their home. While going through Engineer training, Mike started to develop health problems and after going through several tests, it was discovered that he had developed the very cancer that claimed his father's life. Mike underwent several rounds of chemotherapy while still going through training and was able to beat back his cancer, but was told that it could come back. Despite this, Mike remained optimistic about his situation; even after he had a Life-Extender (the Mark 5 one in the TF2 comics) implanted into his right hand, making him the first Mann Co. mercenary to be implanted with such a device (albeit, for medical reasons).
Mike was viciously bullied by the last team he was on, due to his health and because he's bisexual. The bullying got so bad that Mike had to resort to requesting a transfer to another team while his teammates were out drinking one night. Thankfully, Mike's request was granted and he was moved to 2Fort, where he met Tai & her team; he's refrained from telling them he's bi because he's scared of how they'll react, but they DO know about his Life-Extender implant (he keeps it hidden under his glove).
Despite his friendly and easy-going nature, Mike is very cautious about meeting new people and doesn't fully trust someone until they "show their true colors" as he puts it (though he doesn't openly show it).

This is one of my newer OC's and the first bio I've made for him. The part with the Life-Extender is non-canon and is in no way related to the TF2 comics.
Mike's eye's are golden hazel, but the lighting makes it hard to see his eye color (had similar problems with this iris color texture pack in other pictures).
TF2 belongs to Valve
Mike belongs to Me

A expirance welder is rather needed in reparing combat vehicles... And its rare sight in times of war with machines...
None the less! Intresting character you made her Taiji! But i think its bit of a strtcher with a life extender as so far only TWO pepole had those in TF2 universe, and thay ware key pepole in entire damn universe. So eather he was super damn rich or had friend who was involved in making those, i dont buy him heaving one of those...
Its just my opinion. A bit unnice one if you think a bit but it is.

Actually, there are 4 people in the TF2 universe with Life-Extenders: Blutarch & Redmond Mann, Gray Mann and the Administrator (Helen) ; I've read the comics.
Mike's Life-Extender is an experimental one Mann Co.'s medical R&D department gave him in order for them to study the effects of Austrailium when it's used for medical reasons.
He's an OC I developed solely through RPing, so I still have to iron out the details of the rest of his bio.

I kinda stoped counting brothers since thay died and well... Helen and Gray Mann are key players post-war universe that we have now. But what im saying might sound crazy as its late night talk so every thing i say is crazy...
Mikes some what sense but its kinda well... Knowing that he is given a most expensive and rare item along with fuel to run it that is also rare and worth more then a country... Kinda hard for me to buy it right away unless i gona think for few days about it.
RP OC's ALWAYS gona need some work on them to make them a good characters, what you have is good as its now just needs few small details to be talked about. (Like that life-extender thing)

Heh, yeah, I still need to go into more detail about his backstory when I finish his full bio.
Don't forget that Mike's not my only OC to be involved with Austrailium; Patrick & Juliet have trace amounts of it in their blood and Flygineer's situation with it is bit complicated, as it involved an RP I had in the comments of one of my older pictures (one of the ones I made before I found the Femgineer model).
