Description
Finally, good riddance to the headache that was making all these random things at once. Juuust when I thought I was close with one, BAM, gotta make another.Left-right:
Genm, Shakakiri Sports
Ex-Aid Gekitotsu Robots
Brave DoReFaMi Beat
Lazer Giri Giri Chambara
Snipe Jet Combat
I know that's not their official titles, but that's all a mouthful...more so than these. Whatever. These largely useless by Ep.20 bulky messes are the first round of power ups for the main riders. I really hated Shakakiri Sports because of the wheels. I hated Gekitotsu Robots because of the gigantic rocket arm. Lazer as a whole was super challenging and I'm happy to already have his base-torso done for the next round. Jet Combat was actually probably my favorite to make just because of the wings and gatling guns. Brave and Snipe's semi-translucent visors are pretty OK.
Everything here is my hard work. Please don't touch anything without permission. Thanks.
Oh, and fuck thieves. Especially that one prickbag.

FAQI thought it might be a good idea to make a FAQ so I can just link this rather than answer each time these type of questions come up. I think the below is a decent list of catch-all questions I tend to get a lot, but if I think of others I've missed, I'll add them later.
How do you make the images/which programs? I use two different programs, Paintbrush and Acorn. Any program that allows you to edit pixel-by-pixel will get the job done.
Can you teach me how to___? Not really, the only general teaching advice I have is take your time and pay attention to details. If you rush, it’s obvious and will look bad.
Can you help with___? So long as you can take constructive criticism and you don’t expect me to do any actual pixel work, sure.
Can I use___? No. I am very protective of my work.
Are you taking requests/trades/commissions? Requests are a no. Trades are a no as well.

As stupid as Shakariki Sports's design is, your perspective on the green wheel is very well done.

Snipe Jet Combat has to be my favorite out of the group. Though I'm still trying to wrap my head around why Gemm and Ex-Aid had pink on them.
Maybe it's just me.

I think out of all of them, Giri Giri Chanbara & Gekitotsu Robots are my fave, design-wise, with Jet Combat being right behind them. Shakariki Sports is just.....you jam a bicycle on your shoulders can call it armor, and DoReMiFa Beat just doesn't mesh with Brave's design at all. But your pixel art always captures them perfectly.

Yea the bicycle shoulderpads just never meshed with how intimidating Genm was supposed to be at that point in the story. It made sense later since that was his bugster virus, but it just doesn't work.

Hot damn. This is amazing! These forms had a lot of potential; I just wish they were used more in the show. Especially Genm's Level 3 form, I really liked that, though Level X's presence kind of overshadowed it (I like Level X too, I just prefer the regular Genm suit more)

Ex-Aid was kind of weird with how it handled the form changes. We usually get either a season with actual form/suit changes, or a season with base-suits with inter-changing over armor/helmet details. Ex-Aid kind of feels like it was trying to do both, and in some cases it works: the Level 2 suits all look fantastic, give or take personal preferences, as well as the Mighty Brothers XX Suits (the actual suits, not the re-done Level 1). But then we get the Level 3/5 suits and the Level 50 suits for Snipe and Brave that range from meh to pretty good (save for Brave's Level 50 and 100 forms. I think those forms look amazing, even if they are just extra armor to the Level 2 suit). I feel like the Level 3 forms could have been handled a lot better. Though I do like the new additions to the helmets, namely for Brave and Ex-Aid, the extra bits look cool to me.

I feel like they should've limited Ex-Aid's levels rather than jump from basically 3-5-10-20-50-99-invincible. The gaps are just crazy and make no sense. Maye, I dunno, condense that down to 10 levels, each just stronger than the last. And hell, have the baddy still be crazy powerful, but the wide-spread of it made no sense to me. And just got exhausting when they had to introduce a new rider/form every other episode.

The Level jumps are a bit ridiculous, but I get why they chose to have LV 99 be the "max" (basically, you can blame final fantasy and other old school games that inspired Ex-Aid's gaming aspects for having the level cap be 99, as that was always the strongest level in those old school games). But yeah the massive Level skips are kind of irritating. I would have rather them just done more consistent gaps. You know, start at level 1, then Level 2, then jump to five (just remove Dragon Knight Hunter, we'll use that open slot later), keep Dangerous Zombie and Mighty Brothers XX at Level 10, have Para-DX's first two forms be Level 25, keep the Level 50 forms for Brave and Snipe the same, introduce something else to be Level 75 (possibly an Upgrade for Snipe, as Brave got Level 100 at the tale end of the series), and then go to 99. Still a bit ridiculous, but at least then the jumps aren't as big. Either that, or the only having 10 levels thing you suggested.

Yea, I dunno how they could've corrected it. Maybe having a weapon, or color is a sign of a level up. So basic Ex-Aid in his pink, with the breaker hammer/sword weapon is as a default, level 5, with previous forms being a depowered form.
Level 1-still the chibi, but but gray tones ala Ryuki's blank riders; weapon circles on the chestplate are blank.
Level 2- first humanoid; still grayed out; doesn't have the torso and leg lines/patterns; weapon circles still blank.
Level 3-grayed out; has torso and leg lines/patterns; weapon circles still blank.
Level 4- fully colored with lines/patterns; weapon circles still blank.
Level 5-what we know as Ex-Aid Level 2 throughout the series.
Then they'd kinda be freed up to increase by five going forward, as a "default rider" starts at five.

Wizard is one of those rare seasons where all the suits in the show look fantastic. Then there's the Rider from the movie, who's just kind of a sillier looking White Wizard, except Black.

It was fine, I did like bits of it. But the 30+ episodes of "a new form/rider every other episode" was exhausting.
Build, I'm excited for. Its designs feels simpler and cleaner, so that I appreciate.

Those designs are largely palette swaps with a few changes to an arms, chests, and eyes. They are simpler form changes.

It is kind of a shame the Level 3 forms got outclassed so early on, I'd say as early as Level 5's Debut. At the very least a couple of the suits got redone in Proto Gashat colors so Lazer would have something to use in the later fights, and I'm always down for those kinds of suit re-uses (in most cases). Though I think the best ones are without a doubt Jet Combat and DoReMiFa Beat, just because they change up the fighting styles of their respective Riders in a significant way. The others are fine, but kind of feel like just the generic "strength boost" forms. The two I mentioned feel like they have purpose outside of a Power Up. Also, DoRemiFa Beat gives Brave a BoomBox on his shoulder. That automatically puts this form in the "it's so stupid, it's brilliant" category. At least for me anyway.

Yup, that these became so obsolete so quickly was annoying to me. At least the Level 1 forms got a redeeming excuse/fight scene at the end.
I do agree that the two you mentioned are most interesting in how they change their riders' tactics.

I've always felt the LV 1 forms had a purpose from the beginning: they separated the patients from the Bigt Orange Bugster Blobs without killing the patient. When those stopped appearing, LV 1 wasn't needed anymore. But I do like how they brought that concept back for the Semi-Final battle. It was a nice touch.
Though something I will give to Gekitotsu Robots over the others, it kind of gave a small hint to Emu's connection with Para-DX once he debuted. Let me explain: Ex-Aid's first two forms were based on a Game with a brightly colored mascot that resembled his default helmet, and a fighting game with a darker/more realistic art style respectively. Para-DX's first two forms were based on a Game with a brightly colored mascot that resembled his default helmet, and a fighting game with a darker/more realistic art style respectively. I am 100% convinced that was an intentional decision as a sort of subtle hint to what Para-DX was. There was also the fact they both used the same "Dai Henshin" call, and the fact that Para-DX and Ex-Aid are the only two Riders with hyphens in their names, but those weren't as subtle.

Taiko554 In reply to Kamen-Zero [2017-09-06 20:49:21 +0000 UTC]
Right, the Level 1s had a story-line purpose beyond powering up. These didn't. The Drago Knight Hunter forms had story value, these really didn't. Might Brothers had story value, these didn't. That's my problem with the Level 3s, there's no real reason for them, especially given how they're forgotten so quickly.

Yep, don't really add much outside of Lazer getting a humanoid form...the whole "his Rider form is a Bike" thing was kind of a dumb thing right from the start, but at least his Level 3 had some use...until he died.
