Description

Here are the PR-exclusive Omega Rangers from the Boom comics. Yes, I know there's a blue cat. I'll make it eventually, but I just wanted these up and to not waste time fucking around with making a new template right now.

Anyway....

Red Omega

Black Omega

Yellow Omega

Blue Omega

Gold Omega -> Death Ranger

I don't keep up with the comics. But it is cool that Jason, Zach, and Trini got to become these rangers. Blue was some alien before the cat took over. Gold is an alien too, who then becomes Death. And let's be honest, Death is the cooler design they have. Obviously. Like yea, it's kiiiinda kitschy to have skeletal jaw and teeth sticking out, but it's cool. I think a more abstract tooth/jaw design could've worked (ala KR Skull) just as well, but "rule of cool" so here we are. Also, I do think that if these suits were ever to get a live-action treatment, the teeth/jaw would look pretty 90s-cheap: would the jaw move when the character talks, or would it just be a pattern? Ah, the things you don't have to worry about in comics, I suppose. Their design also gets spikier shoulders and a more muscular body that looks intimidating. I'm not sure if that's my perception of the Death Ranger as-drawn, or if there's an in-universe explanation for why they appear to bulk up as the Death Ranger.

Each of their helmets has an old school alchemy symbol in them: red fire; black air; yellow earth; blue water; gold sun. Gold/Death also has an ever-so-slightly rounder bit on top of their helmet, rather than the curved triangle of the other four. That's only worth mentioning because one of my oldest teams used alchemical symbols for their visor shapes; so that's fun.

I wonder if the existence of "Omega Rangers" in-universe means there are other "Greek Alphabet-Rangers" yet to be designed. You could make the argument SPD is "Delta", I suppose. I'd just be curious to know if that's something the creators have discussed or if "Omega" was chosen because it was already in PR and it sounds cool. Kinda weird the powers are supposedly ancient when "Omega" is the final letter, but whatever.
