Second thought: That box of whatever, apparently snack food, shows a weakness possibly amounting to temptation. If I'm right, she looks to have given in to it, at least some, and in a way that attracts my more devious, and even unkind, nature. Giving in further appeals to that side of me.

Sure. That it happens to be 20th Century American culture is an accident of history. My education isn't accidental; it was planned and paid for.

I am not sure if the culture you are talking about is 20th Century American, it actually appears to come from the ancient Greek times, but one's education indeed isn't accidental.

No question that most ancient Greeks were cultured, if they weren't slaves. But I was noting that my culture, and that of the young lady, happen to be current. There's little question that much of that derives from the Greeks, particularly from Athens. It has had some updates over twenty-five hundred years though.
