Thanks Mark, I think you would like the camera after you get used to it. I like the higher pixel count which makes a larger image so small birds far away can be cropped and still look good. Most all those tiny bird shots are distant even with my 300mm so like my D610 wouldn't produce the same result it would not be worth posting. It also can be set to a pinpoint focus which really is sharper than the older sensors if you can keep that red dot right on the subject. Of course you can widen the focus area like trying to shoot sunrise or sunset if you keep it on the fine focus the cam will just hunt back and forth trying to focus on a tiny spot in the sky. That drives me nuts when I forget to change the focus area LOL. One thing I hate is you take the shot then when the viewer reopens it is still showing that shot. You have to partially push the exposure button to clear out that image. Surely there must be a setting I haven't found to stop that. It makes it almost impossible to take more than one shot of birds flying or anything moving fast.

On your Appiture Setting..does it offer AP Continuous...This is how I shoot moving objects
Trippy 4U taught me this after i went thru his Awesome Sports Shots...to get That Moment of Contact...Hes shootn Continuously Auto Setting
Then you gett to look thru hundreds of images if you do a all day shoot...look at his Color Sports Images...Scroll down page Info... To his Camera settings you will see it AP Continuous...look at his shots...best thing i have been taught by Trippy 4U
Hes a Grand Master Shooter...Inlearned So much from His Images Camera Stats...Tryn on my own.
Ask Him When I get Frustrated..

I need to check the manual LOL as usual it never gets read at least not completely LOL There must be some way to avoid this strange problem. Yes I understand the AP Continuous and that's the way I have my 610 setup. Actually if I hold the button down on the z7 it fires continuous now but you can't see a damn thing to follow the object or focus.

Theres got to be your manual info...I go look for Photographers New Camera Comparisons...If they done a Shooting Evaluation....and the Nikon website...you can email support...I do that alot
Too lazy to read that damn Manual..lol
What you spend on the Z7..you buya kit or just body...look to be 3 to 5 grand...$$ its alot..

There are several online Nikon groups I can ask too. I will be doing that since I plan on going to my grave with my z7. I didn't want to buy new lenses just to sell my Nikon DSLR lenses so had to buy the Nikon adaptor. No biggie just makes the setup a bit different but works just fine. My zoom cost me over 1k so wasn't going to buy another one to fit without the adapter. I did buy the wide angle lens at the same time but intended to use it on my D610 although I can use it on the z7 just to lazy to change lenses back and forth. I can just image putting the wide angle on the z7 and then a bird or 2 shows up me needing the 300mm LOL
