I still haven't been able to get a good shot I like of this Killdeer so will keep trying.Related content

I don't know why, but I just love Killdeer.
They're call is welcoming and calming to me, and I always smile in happiness and joy when I hear or see one. There was one at my school, a year ago, students at my school as usual have to chase it and catch it instead of just admiring it from a distance. I tried to take it from them to put through an opening of the fence to its parents. One of the students caught it and they all had to huddle and surround it(monkey see, monkey do technically) I tried to get it from them, but they let it go. But two of the students stayed to see if they can catch it again, and I stayed, in case if they did, to make sure the animals were ok. I told them to just leave it be, and I know the students had a little grudge on me, because I tried to take it and free it from them.
It was a good thing that there was an adult there to tell them to leave the animals be, afterwards I just went back to my PE class. I hope the Killdeer chick successfully grew to an adult.

You certainly tried to do the right thing. Children don't realize the damage they can do to our wildlife. I really like Killdeer too but have only been able to photograph them from a distance. Thanks for sharing!!

Get this, it was at my high school, yet the so called 'high schoolers' were acting immature and had to be childish and mess with animals. I was like, uh..... Am I sure I'm in high school.....?
