Basically an image(digital) that isn't determined by pixels but paths and such. Pretty much the benefit would be to create very smooth lines and make this great drawing into a very clean graphic.
heres an example I just found: [link]
view the full version and you can see how crisp the lines look even at such magnitude. Note that the image has been converted to JPEG format so It can be uploaded but do you get the idea?

Well you would need to create them in a vector editing piece of software. Like, Adobe Illustrator is the best im pretty sure, it's what I use.
What did you use to create this image?

Yeah, I was only wondering what kinda software you used to do that ahah.
But like I was saying, you could get some great clean looking graphics if you used illustrator.
Basically you'd be scanning in your image as usual, but then tracing it using paths or a paint brush tool and you can make it look very nice
