Description
Download for full view and best resolution. This is what I've been working on for the past few days. It's been... nearly two years since I uploaded the first sheet, and over a year since I uploaded the second. And now? Character Sheet 03... The Savants of Hyrule!
The characters are, from left to right:
1. Taki, the Savant of Time (57); a kindly, almost naive gentleman of fifty-seven years, hailing from Termina in hopes of spreading the wisdom of the Goddess of Time, Verthandi. He is not recognized as an 'official' Savant, though the other Savants do acknowledge him for his wisdom and kindness, and the guidance he offers.
2. Tarea, the Savant of Light (52); the motherly Savant of the Light Temple who gives guidance to those seeking the aid of the Golden Goddesses.
3. Mirela, the Savant of the Forest (age unknown); a cheerful, bright young woman of the Hykiri tribe, who is a pioneer in spreading the knowledge of the guardian deity Koboku to her fellow siblings of the forest realm.
4. Gor Usu, the Savant of Fire (76); a man who is as strong in body as he is in spirit, hoping to clear up the misconceptions amongst the Gorons regarding their guardian god Volvagia. He is the oldest of the Savants (and the Gorons), and was the first to establish the position.
5. Seras, the Savant of Water (41); a serene, open-minded woman who is believed to have actually spoken with the god Jabun after his disappearance from Zora's Fountain under the guise of "Lord Jabu-Jabu".
6. Yukare, the Savant of Shadow (36); the youngest of the Savants who is famed throughout Hyrule for her herbal remedies, as well as being a childhood friend of the late King Botan.
7. Sarona, the Savant of Spirit (61); the fiery Savant of the desert, who offers wisdom to women that come to the Gerudo Fortress, seeking strength from the feminist goddess Sunare. As of the last seventeen years, she has relocated to the Spirit Temple across the desert wastelands, believed to be communing with the gods, seeking strength and guidance to pass on to those that seek her out.
Since I'm bound to get this question at least once; What are 'Savants'?
The Savants are more or less religious figureheads taking the places of the Sages after their disappearance after the fall of Ganondorf. With the disappearances of the Sages, the Savants stepped up to take their places within the temples of the gods, offering wisdom and spiritual guidance to those that seek it, living separate from the populace to keep themselves pure of mind and body so as to keep themselves unbiased in their guidance.
The Savants tend to lack magic, and certainly lack the same powers that the Sages had. Because of this, amongst many other reasons, the Savants chose to take on the new title of 'Savant' (a term meaning "wise one") so as to not bring shame or disrespect upon the title of 'Sage' that rightly belonged to the Sages that aided the Hero of Time.
Each Savant trains a personal Attendant who is to hopefully take the Savant's place upon reaching adulthood. Attendants are taken in at the age of eight years, and are trained away from the populace for ten straight years. Attendants are allowed at any time to leave and rejoin society, and many in fact do so, unable to maintain the arduous task of maintaining spiritual and mental clarity and a purely unbiased view on life and all situations.
As a little design note, you may notice there is a big difference between Taki/Yukare and the rest of the Savants (meaning Taki and Yukare look a little plain). This is because I drew Taki and Yukare almost exactly a year ago (I drew Seras even earlier, to be honest), a time well before I got a little bolder with designing clothing and hairstyles. I may or may not tweak Yukare's design, but Taki is meant to be plain. And also, to those unfamiliar with the Rider Deck Tarot cards, Taki's pose is very much reminiscent of the card of The Fool. Amusing, yes?
I want to thank ~UndyingNephalim for all his help with designing Mirela.
EDIT (7/06/09): Added color schemes, changed Yukare's face. Never design important characters while you're half asleep. She's younger than Mirela, yet she looked older than Sarona. So I changed it. Enjoy.
Many thanks to ~Noctros for helping me come up with the color schemes. Thanks, hon!

I like Yukare's plain look I think it fits someone who chose Shadow. Of course if you did change her design I think you should leave it at least simplistic like just adding a design to her kimono.
