“Wake up soldier! Wake up!”

    XE-8390 stirred as she was having some sort of dream that seemed almost part memory. It was herself as a baby being held by a man with blue eyes like hers and she reveled in the feeling of being safe. Then consciousness came back to her, and with it the slight buzz in her body from the stun blasts. She woke up and lifted her head to see one of the instructors kneeling next to her.

               “Are you alright?” asked the instructor in full Stormtrooper armor

               “Yes,” replied XE-8390.

               She got to her feet and looked around. The holo-droids were getting up and returning to their charging stations in the walls of the simulation room. The cadets were all getting up from where they had fallen.

               “Cadets! Fall in line!” barked the instructor.

               All the cadets promptly fell in line next to each other near the center of the Sim room. XE-8390 fell in line next MD-4077 and TX-2054. The instructor paced angrily in front of them.

               “Well that was a fine display if you were trying to disappoint the First Order.” No one groaned but it was apparent that everyone felt like groaning. “You spent too long discussing and planning an attack strategy so that you were completely vulnerable to counterattack from the insurgent forces that were simulated here. You need to come up with these strategies beforehand and know how to respond to a situation with the appropriate tactics.” He glared at XE-8390, TX-2054, and KR-4554 at this point. XE-8390 did not side glance at TX-2054 but she could tell that ‘Trigger’ was angry at her. She also knew that he would not burst out while an instructor was looming over them with a lecture.

               “You've got six months until you reach graduation from your curriculum aboard the Absolution.” the instructor continued. “You're really going to need to shape up your tactical prowess in battle if you want to graduate to the more advanced training program aboard the Finalizer. So, you'd better shape up and show real prowess in the simulation room or you won't have a chance at becoming stormtroopers for the First Order. Dismissed!”

               As soon as the instructor turned and walked away XE-8390 exhaled. It was tense. With what the cadets had to go through in the simulation rooms aboard the Absolution, she and her squad needed to shape up or they would not graduate to the Finalizer.
