Description
↳ tsukishima x reader:scenario: regular timeline in which the two of you are dating.
Saying that you are an independent individual was an understatement. It's not that you hated getting help from others, but you preferred to do things by yourself as bothering people with your problems didn't seem necessary to you. School wasn't that much of a hard task for the most part; of course there were a few hard tests here and there, but all in all you got the hang of it. You managed to search of advice on the internet by looking up various articles explaining how your problems worked and how to get past them.
So therefore, asking for help wasn't something you typically did. It was a blessing and a curse, really.
But of course, having this problem would eventually bring trouble at some moment in time. And that moment would be tonight. You had to finish two summative projects on top of studying for five exams from different courses. The exams all spanned throughout the week, and were required to complete the courses.
You regretted taking all of these honors courses. You intensely studied the topics throughout the year, but where did that get you? Sitting at your desk late on a Sunday evening with notes and loose papers piled up on your desk to try to remember what you even wrote down throughout the year.
All hope of your sanity was lost, any color on your face was drained and you swore that every muscle in your body was sore and felt stiff as a sheet of steel. Your eyes bore through the endless words in your history journal, and you honestly felt like this page was never going to end. What's the point in talking about one day in history when there are a billion of years in history? If we were to psychoanalyze each day, we would be here forever studying history; which would be how you felt right now.
You were so caught up in memorizing the terms in your notebook that you failed to notice the presence of your boyfriend on your bed. He practically invited himself over after you went on a long rant at lunch about your weekend study session on Friday. He couldn't make it yesterday since he was out of town for a game, but he told you he'd be at your house tonight as he was free.
Tsukishima was usually there with you during study or project sessions. Mainly because the first time he worked on a project with you, you got overstressed to the point where you had breathing problems. It was mainly because you picked the hardest part of the project, and didn't accept help when he offered to. Eventually you let him help you though, since it was due electronically in twenty minutes and he offered to help you with the part of it you had trouble with.
This time however, you told him to just wait for you to be finished, claiming that you'd be 'done in no time' so afterwards you could watch the recorded dinosaur documentary he wanted to watch with you (although you received complaints from him to not speak of the self-proclaimed embarrassing movie habit again).
He busied himself playing an iMessage game of pool with Yamaguchi, so much so that he almost forgot your presence as well. But when you through your pencil across the room after the lead broke, his interest peaked to say the least.
Tsukishima strategically stood up off the bed, and made his way over to you. Crossing his arms, he looked down at you with a half smirk, "Hm, so does the Great (Y/n) need assistance?"
You immediately shot him a glare, along with slight scowl, "I'm not in the mood, Kei. Go sit down or something, I have a lot of work to do."
Your glare seemed to have no affect on the blonde, as his smirk only widened, "Oh? What ever happened to 'I'll be done in no time, Kei.'" He mimicked your voice with an annoyingly high pitched tone.
You rolled your eyes, as you leaned back in your seat and let out a heavy sigh, "Well I didn't know it'd take this long..."
Tsukishima' gaze softened a bit, as he looked at the pile of notes on your desk. Letting out a sigh and readjusting his glasses, he spoke again, "Are you done with your part of the projects at least?"
You gave him a slow nod as your tired gaze stared down at your lap.
Tsukishima sighed and he picked up a pile of your notebooks. "Here, we'll go over some vocabulary to see if you can remember them. But only one session, you need to go to bed soon."
You lifted your head up at the sincerity of his voice, your eyes fixated on him as a small smile formed on your face. It was very rare when he showed concern for you through words, but when he did it was a moment that you would relish in.
Although you were hesitant on taking him up on his offer, you ultimately gave in as you agreed that it was time for bed, especially with your first exam tomorrow.
You both sat on either side of your bed as you went over random terms from your notebook. He would read one vocab word from each page, not wanting to overwhelm you. He would read a definition, and you would answer for the word of said definition.
Eventually you finished, and you asked him if you could quickly read over some notes on the topic you didn't understand from your physics class. He handed you the notebook and you flipped through some pages before closely reading the bottom of one of the pages.
He pulled out his phone to kill time as you were reading, but when he looked up from his phone, you were sprawled out on the bed, out cold.
A sense of relief passed over him to see you in such a relaxed state. He picked your notebook off of your stomach, and set it on your desk before pulling your sheets over you, tucking you in. He stared at you for a few seconds, admiring how beautiful you looked.
He was actually quite proud of you. You did work hard, and as much as it annoyed him how intense you could be about working alone at times, he did see how hard you worked and it was paying off. You knew almost every term the two of you went over and it went much more smoothly than he had originally thought it would go.
At first he considered just leaving, but seeing that your desk looked like a natural disaster, he decided to tidy it up a bit for leaving. After neatly putting it into piles, his gaze averted back to your sleeping form. A ghost of a smile played on his face.
He walked over to the bed, and placed a kiss on your forehead before he walked back home, "Goodnight, (y/n)."

a nice fic, not too long, not too complicated, a great way to get back into writing^^
I can't really relate much because I always picked up things easily but when it came to my final exams, it was hell, because I never learned "how" to learn and stressed myself out a lot. But thinking back now on the piles of books I had to memorize I think I know how reader-chan felt.

thank you so much!!
i totally get it. one of my close friends never studies and ends up with a's, and i know you've probably studied before, but even so you're just a faster learner than i am and that's actually amazing??? but yeah if you don't learn how to study it can be a problem if you want to in the future, but i know u can do it!!
what i did for my first time studying was i made a Quizlet and kept playing the vocab games to memorize the terms. but that's just me, you can do whatever you want if you want to study in the future!

so far I've only read through everything as often as I could, hoping I would memorize everything like I normally could, but it was just too much. making games sounds like a very good strategy.
I'm finished with my studies but if I ever have to learn something, I will remember that!
