That is one thing about Mender!Gaster: He has quite a high level of moral and a tendency towards feeling guilt due to the responsibilities put onto his shoulders during the time before and during the war and his time before the accident as Agore's Royal Scientist. Even if he can't really assist in things he feels responsible of, he still wants to do something. Even if it's just to show that he cares.
