Dennis, my toothless, deaf, diabetic three legged cat who lost the fight to live tonight. My faithful pal for 18 years......I'm devastated.1989-2008 R.I.P

yeah i know how it feels i had a dog named Vincent Vango. Named after the artis cause he had 1 ear. had him since i was 5 my mom had to put him to sleep 3 years ago. i still miss him alot. he was more then a dog to me.

I don't think there are many things worse than losing a pet and far too many people don't understand the sense of loss or how special pets are and what they mean.
The blue cross even have a pet bereavement counselling service.
At least you have the comfort of knowing that you gave him a good home for 18 years and he had a good life. Condolences.

My condolences.
My cat is about 18 years old, and walks around like an old lady of 90. She can hardly see, can hardly eat, and walks r-e-a-l slowly. But she takes it upon herself to accompany me at my desk, make sure I get up in the morning (meow...), and gets flustered if I don't go to bed by 11 pm. She's been acting sickly, and I'll be very sad when she's gone.

I am truly sorry, Neil, I really am. I grew to love him in no time, he really was very special. I am sorry he had to suffer so much. I hope you will be able to get through this loss and adjust to living without him, but do allow yourself to mourn him. Losing a beloved pet is like losing a dear friend.

but, it sounds to me like you gave him a wonderful life - a fitting gift to a loyal friend.
