Description Sok escaped the Khmer Rouge in 1973 leaving parents and 5 siblings in Phnom Penh to suffer an unknown fate, the only thing known for sure is that they perished. She lives alone and is still looking for her place in the world.

The rectangular highlight in her dark round eyes, and the whisper-soft counter glow from the shirt on the shadow side of her face - added to the thin diagonal lines on her face - spectacular!

SO SAD! i myself am khmer but i was born in the us but my parents and their family escaped. now listening to her story i can actually understand why my parents always tell me why i am so lucky to have a family who loves me and to be born here. Its just so sad! I hope she knows she's not alone.

A beautiful portrait, and a touching and harrowing tale, Neil. There seems to be both sorrow and expectation in Sok's expression.
