Turned out better n' I thought it would, considering the art block I've been in (hence the literature...) X3
Tried a bit of motion blurring realism this time around... first time I've attempted this, actually... I think
it turned out alright?

Now, I believe I mentioned something about strategy? Let us go back to the beginning of this particular
battle. Aerin might not be the biggest most warlike fighter, nor did she have experience slaying massive
insects, but she did have a good head on her shoulders, and she knew how to use it.

Participating in this cunning but daring plan, were two other magnarak; a coal Jumper by the name of
Anansi (and with him his rider, Tergus) and a Weaver female, Xenia.

While neither rider would take part in the actual attack (which the magnaraks would not allow even if
they had insisted in joining in), they were in charge of the strategic planning.

First, the woods had to be....'roped-off' in a way that would guide the huge mantis along a specific path.

The perfect place was chosen; a ravine had cut it's way though a strand of very thick woodland - the
only path the mantis mother could take was trough that ravine... as long as the way around it had
been made unavailable. And it had.

At the near end of the ravine, in the boughs overhanging the dry creek, waited the two Jumpers. And
a little ways down, waited the Weaver.

Just as soon as the giant creature passed underneath them, both Xiyal and Anansi dropped down onto
her neck, digging in with their fangs as close to the base of the head as they could. If nothing else, the
distraction of their presence (and the venom coursing so close to the head) would confuse the mantis
enough to slow it down for the second phase of the plan. (Good work on not letting Anansi fall, Xiyal!
You two be careful!)

After the Jumpers had latched on, then came the Weaver's part. Xenia swung down upon a gossamer
thread and did what she did best. Bit and wove. She was to bite as many of the leg joints (as well as the
wing bases) as she could, while weaving as many strands of webbing around and across and to as many
other joints as possible, while wrapping the mantis' wings around her swollen abdomen just in case the
great female decided to fly.... if she could even get her very pregnant body off the ground.

As soon as the Jumpers had exhausted the greater part of their venom, they were to join Xenia in her
attempts to bind the huge mantis into a stall.

A good, sound plan.... I mean, if one had venom coursing though one's brain, and a stronger venom
bogging up nigh every single leg joint, how long do you think you'd be walking?

After all, someone who can't walk... and can't fly, can't threaten a home. Dirty fighting maybe, going
for the legs.... but Aerin knew all the particulars about fighting larger opponents. She'd done so most
of her life - the trick was to cut them down to your level.... and the easiest way to do that, was take
out the legs....

Beautiful piece of art! The blurring effect definatly gives a lot more action.
I find it strangely satisfying that the Magnaraks have the contrast of black and white.
If i can hurry up and draw the next entry we might be getting another Magnarak into the Battle.
