I often see people drawing them as misunderstood enemies which is fine and all but I personally think good heroes need good villains and I like my villains as assholes.Β

The way I see it is that the lesser Octolings (The less humanoid looking ones) don't really like being on the battlefield, but are too scared of the Elite ones to say otherwise, and the Elite Octolings are aggressive assholes.

I never understood the love of splatoon, but ironically I think you posting so much fan-art for it got me into an obsession. (When it first came out I wasn't as game to get it or even play it, but I think seeing all the fan-art got my interest in the game)now I can't stop playing it. But really cool pic (I wish you'd make a real comic for it XD that'd be cool I love all these short comics.) I actually created an octoling oc who is kinda a double agent and joins the inklings ((and gets constantly harassed by the silly inklings XD))

I like both types of villains, one with a sympathetic back story and ones where there outright bastards who you can't wait for them to get there just desserts.
But I never like to put a whole species in with the others maybe there are some octolings that are different.

I'm an octoling that doesn't have a grudge against all inklings. I've changed, but there's just one inkling i need to settle scores with. revenge you can say, she took away my commander so i plan to take something away from her...

I have nothing against villains with good motives and backstories and things are never completely black and white but I also enjoy villains who are simply asshole evil.Β
Like, I HATE how Disney ruined Maleficent in the life-action version of sleeping beauty and tried to make their own version of "wicked". She was just perfect the way she was and one of the best Disney villains ever.Β

Yeah, I noticed that most people seem to think that every villain must be a sympathetic villain. It is true that things aren't always as black and white but there are time when someone is just being an asshole or became a terrible person because they chose to and not because of some sort of tragic past. Of course, even if someone has a sad past that doesn't excuse them for being assholes.

I disagree on the villains must be assholes. The drawing does look pretty bloody cool, but I think that Cuttlefish is just a racist old man who has bad experiences from the war and doesn't think that negotiation is an option.

I do admit that the story mode leaves MANY questions open and I think it isn't as black and white but I wouldn't go saying that.Β

There are villains that I love because they are just pure assholes (with cause), I will agree that some of those types of villains are necessary *cough* The Joker *cough*, but different people like different types of villains.
My reasoning behind it is just that the Sunken Scrolls show that Inklings and Octarians used to be friends before something about a second Global Warming event forced them into the Great Turf War. I swear one of the Sunken Scrolls said that the Octarians were running out of power of their own, and so them stealing the Zapfish was how they achieved that. Also, DJ Octario's line "I will take back what is mine."
I dunno, I get the feeling that there is some really grey morality, especially since you attack the Octarians in their own homes when they are attacking for what seems to be self defense.

I believe that, in the end, it doesn't really matter, during the credits the doodles imply that Inklings and Octarians were able to find peace, since you see an Octoling girl giving an Inkling boy her goggles and then girls of both species are seen hanging out together, along other instances. So...It all worked out in the end?

I wonder, what about Octoling boys? Only female Octolings... I just wonder about that really... The idea that the Octarians and the Inklings were able to find peace in the credits was cute and it honestly made me feel a bit guilty. But the fact that DJ Octario is trapped inside a snowglobe means that the Octarians don't die from getting inked, probably. I don't know...
