Haven't drawn a picture of my favourite non-Neopets OC *coughthatwastotallynotjustadaptedfrommyfavouriteNeopetsOCcough* for a while. = D Turned out alright, I suppose, although I'm having trouble with his face shape again. And this was basically just an experiment in being precise with my shadows, seeing if I could eliminate the need to do several different layers of cel-shaded shadows like I normally do. His face turned out the best in that regard — sort of overworked his clothes. xD;Anyway, yes. <3 Keeyon with his (first) Esse, which is, to use technical terms, a little floaty soul thingy. There are certain places on Encore that are will damage your soul if you stay in them for too long, and the Esse spell is basically a way to keep it safe while you journey through such areas. Sometimes, when left to their own devices, they develop personalities of their own.
Keeyon has a terrible habit of destroying his Esse. This one is named Alpha, because it is his first — although it doesn't get that name until he gets Beta. Various other characters are rather horrified that he is destroying fragments of his soul so casually, and even more horrified that he is naming them alphabetically and seems to anticipate destroying many more of them.
Keeyon is a strange sort of person. But, well. Encore is a strange sort of world.

I love your idea behind this! I'm quite intrigued.
There's a quiet warmth about this piece, and it's probably aided by your careful, softly glowing shading.

I've always really liked your layers of cel-shading. They were pretty. C:
But what a fascinating world to hear about! It feels so floaty and whimsical, or maybe it's just the picture making me feel that way.

I kind of like them too, but they let me get lazy sometimes and this was kind of an attempt to break the habit. xD; I'll go back to them next picture I colour, no doubt. But I think I learned some things from this, which is probably really good for me since I don't challenge myself nearly as often as I should.
And thanks! Really, whimsical? Hmm. I guess so. = D The rest of the world really isn't, though. Or... well, I guess it's kind of a mix of whimsical and dark, which is partially due to the fact that I've been working on this world since I was fourteen and partially due to the fact that I always write about ghosts. >__>;

I'm lazy when it comes to shading, too. XD I usually just pretty it up and make it look nice, which doesn't always mean it turns out accurate. Whoops.
Whimsical and dark's not a bad combination. o: And hm, I never did realize how much you included ghosts in your work. Not that it's a bad thing. I rather enjoyed reading Matter. c8

hey, it's better than what I've got most of the time. XD I can't count how many times I've had some well-developed character I really want to write about who lived in Ill-Defined Vaguely Cyberpunk World (or Steampunk or Medieval or, y'know, whatever. xD)
And trying to write these characters could lead to... interesting things on occasion. Especially during NaNo. Things like whistling guns. That were meant to be futuristic and scary. ._.
