Miriam is lucky to have a big fluffy friend like Mei, but sometimes she wishes that she could let out her own inner beast. But the problem was she didn’t come from a magical family like Mei. As she walked down the street, she passed by a weird store and could’ve sworn she heard someone say her name. Curious, she enters the store and the shopkeeper, an old woman, greets her.

She tells Miriam that she’s heard about her problem and offers to help. Miriam, still weirded out that this old lady knows her name and what she was thinking but still wanted to know how she can help, asks how, and the woman knows just the thing. pulling out a box from behind the counter, opening it and inside was a small glass bottle containing a bright-colored liquid. The woman called this stuff “dragon’s tears”, a special tonic imported from Russia. Drink it and it will unlock your inner self. Miriam wasn’t sure if drinking something like that would work and if it was dangerous, but the shop keeper said it was harmless, safe to drink and guaranteed to work. She knows because she once heard of a woman who drank this tonic and the results were as intended.
At this point, Miriam was willing to try anything as long as it could truly bring out that inner beast of her own. So after much thought, she accepted the tonic, which was on the house, thanked the old woman and left.

Later that night, before she went to bed, Miriam decided to give the tonic a shot. Pulling it out of her backpack, stared at it and opened the bottle. “Well, bottom’s up,” she said taking a sip. the fiz tingled on her lips and tongue, tickling them slightly, making them feel almost as though they were touching softer pop rocks. The fluid ran down her throat, the bubbles of carbonation surprising her a bit. Still, the flavor was nice, almost like sparkling seltzer, so she took another sip.

*hic!*

A small hiccup followed, then she downed the rest of the bottle until it was empty, every last drop drank. This was Followed by a deep, bellowing belch. BRRRROOOOOORP! as loud as something Mei would make like that one time she and the others had a soda drinking contest, and out of her mouth came a faint purple smoke with small sparkles of light that seemed to fade almost instantly. she finally managed to slam her lips shut, opened her mouth to speak, muttering a small “excuse me” as she hoped her parents didn’t hear her loud belch. Luckily they didn’t. Once that was done, Miriam looked at herself in the mirror, hoping there would be any changes made like the old woman at that shop said. Nothing. She didn’t look or feel different, aside from some fizzy gas coming from the attic, She was still the same. She figured it was a delayed effect as from what she learned from fantasy movies, shows and books, most magic spells and potions don’t work right away. Either that or it was a dud. If it’s the latter, she made a mental note to have a few words with that old shop keeper in the morning. Miriam turns off the light and hits the hay to drift off to sleep. For the next few hours, her slumber remained peaceful. But at 3 in the morning, Miriam stirred and groaned by the feeling and sound of her tummy rumbling, bubbling, groaning. Her hand drifted to her tummy, lightly resting on it. Little did she know that things were soon to change for real.

The next morning, Miriam woke up, slammed her alarm clock off and crawled out of bed. She moaned, her bed creaking and thudding her feet on the ground. Wiping her eyes, Miriam yawned as she made her way to the bathroom, passing by her mirror. but immediately stopped when she saw something in the mirror. Staring back at her was….her, only difference was that her bottom half was completely different. Instead of human legs, there were green Saurian reptile legs as big as an elephant’s, fat toes with long pointed claws, spikes protruding from her back down a long tail and a light green belly. The top half of her was still human, sticking out like a small sore thumb on her now huge monster body. Miriam was freaking out at the moment, but at the same time she couldn’t believe it. The potion worked.
