Y'know how in Kingdom Hearts, everyone loves
to fall from the sky? Yeah. It happens a lot.
The distance between Sora and Riku is always there,
but once they reunite, their bond is stronger than
anything. Soriku forever //////shottttttt

The only thing I know is that in the Dream World Sora and Riku are actually younger. (Explains why his hair suddenly became dark brown again, why both became shorter,Β and why Riku had short hair)
It also explains why you never ran out of magic and whatnot. As Sora grew older his hair color became lighter because he was asleep for a year (no sun, that happens with hair fibers, particularly blondes.Β You'll notice that with some blondes when their younger it's bright gold, and as they grow older by spending too much time in the sun their hair turns dark blonde, it happened to some of my classmates. In this case the reverse happened so Sora went from brunette to light blonde.)
I prefer their dream versions to be honest. xD It was so cute seeing them be so young again (I thought I'd never see Sora's baby fat face again.) Can you imagine Roxas meeting Dream!Sora instead of the older one? Sora would be like, a couple feet shorter than him and if we're realistic will still have that high re-mature voice of his. xD

according to a friend of mine whom i asked the same question to concerning Riku's hair, he cut it as a symbol of fully letting go of the dark past he carried on his shoulders, the guilt and wutnot
