What is left of a poet?
Some lines on a yellowed paper,
a heart pressed between pages,
that caresses the light
a day which is rising again,
the scent of a flower
a memory of her,
and in the icy shadow,
these abominable time
where murdered children,
women and poets.
What is left of your skull
filled with stars, Mayakovsky?
Que reste-t-il d'un poète?
Quelques vers sur un papier jauni,
un coeur pressé entre des pages,
que vient caresser la lumière
d'un jour qui se lève encore,
le parfum d'une fleur
en un souvenir d'elle,
et dans l'ombre glacée,
ces temps abominables
où on assassinait les enfants,
les femmes et les poètes.
Que reste-t-il de ton crâne
rempli d'étoiles, Mayakovsky?
