Description
This is a side-by-side comparison of James Hook as he's more traditionally portrayed in Peter Pan, with how he's portrayed in The Sands of Neverland. I had a pack of Crayola pencils, so I could only do so much, but over all, I liked how it came out. I wish it came out in this one like it came out in my pencil drawing, but he just looks so evil. It's just this blank stare of "I'm going to kill you." I tried to get the red spots in his eyes, but again, I was limited with my shitty pencils. But I think I did capture that "wolfish" glare that he has. This is one of the parts in ch.3 that describes him.
"King James stood in front of me and his eyes locked into mine. Now seeing him up close, I saw that the darkened spot on his face was a black compass tattooed over a scar from a burn. It circled around his left eye, the 'south' point stretched down under his cheek bone and the 'west' point reached across the bridge of his nose. The silver talon in his lip piercing reached to the bottom of his chin and a small silver bead rested on his lower lip. The contrasts of his blue eyes with his pale skin made it almost impossible to look away from him; the colours commanded your attention."
Captain Hook belongs to James Barrie, however, this depiction of him is my own original idea and is featured in the new book The Sands of Neverland.
