Description Aurae43 is an "Equinaut", a bio-mechanical pony from an unknown star system far off in the MLP universe. Her body is a product of fusing an incredibly diverse artificial intelligence program and the latest (in terms of her star system) in biotechnology with the form of the native species, Equinauts, to form the most perfect equine-based artificial lifeform ever created. Unlike the ponies that populate Equestria, the design of Aurae43's spine allows her to walk erect on her hind-hooves like a human, similar to that of her creators and the populace of her original home. Her limbs and head are electromagnetically attached to her body and allow more free movement than what is anatomically possible, also allowing her to temporarily remove parts of her body to fit into tight spaces, and reattach themselves together. Her creator programmed her with only three initial orders into her mind: Think, Learn, and Live, which served as her basis for more complex thoughts and to develop her own ever-growing knowledge bank.

Word of this creation spread quickly around her home planet, and the Alicorn that was entrusted with ruling it ordered that the artificial pony be taken and destroyed, for fear of its potential threat to the civilian population. When a full-scale hunt for Aurae43, her creator managed to send her off the planet in a hypersleep pod, but not before ordering her that where ever she lands, she must follow her three initial programs and live as her own pony. After literally thousands of years of sleep, Aurae43's pod finally arrives at its predetermined destination, a thriving and fertile planet in a region called "Equestria"...

Aurae43's initial personality is, without a more polite way to put it, particularly cold yet curious. She speaks in a monotonic voice with a metallic echo in her speech, and is brutally honest in her observations. Since she is still learning about life, Aurae43 knows little in terms of emotion and empathy or even right and wrong, but is willing to develop this understanding and eventually feel them herself. She is curious about unknown factors and explores them thoroughly, unless there is no way to gather more information from what she has at hoof. Since her unexpected exodus from her home and the details associated with it, she distrusts many ponies on their introduction and any form of physical contact during that timeframe is considered to her as a threat. After sometime, she would eventually warm up to them, and will learn more about them. Before being sent off the planet, Aurae43's creator gave her a special helmet and tank pack that recycles the air in her suit to help her in case the air in where ever she lands in unbreathable to her. Her creator specifically told her, under no circumstances should she ever take off the helmet. Any attempt by an outside force trying to remove the helmet will be met with violent force at Aurae43's hooves. Fortunately, since she is robotic, she doesn't rely on food or water, rather she is "powered by knowledge", meaning as long as she is able to keep learning and gathering new information like daily events or new ponies, she will keep living.

-----------

TL;DR, I made an OC pony. Woohoo.

I wanted to make an OC pony that was COMPLETELY different than most, considering she never originated anywhere near Equestria AND she is basically an artificial robot alien pony. You don't see many of those everyday.

I named her Aurae43 because "aurae" in latin means "heaven", and the 43 is her model number (the creator went through 43 iterations of his design to get to his best creation).

I use a rather dated version of Photoshop Elements 6. It has only a small amount of the features from the recent ones, but it has served me well so far.

I love Her! This is nearly exactly what i fantasize about pony or non pony, The subtle line between organic and inorganic thought and form. I understand the powered by knowledge concept but what do you think her literal power source would be? some form of micro reactor i'd thought.. also what sort of processing speed and intelligence does she have?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tarantad0 In reply to ArkTeck [2013-08-12 23:32:47 +0000 UTC]

Actually a micro reactor was what I exactly had in mind for her main power source. It would act as her heart of sorts, and it is self-sufficient and forever-lasting. Her intelligence speed is particularly fast, and she can recall bits of knowledge and memories quickly at a moment's notice. Like think of her processing speed like, let's say, Google for example. You tell her something and she will recall as much information as she knows about it after the second you say it. Although, sometimes she'll occasionally dwell upon something a bit longer than usual, but it is rare.

This just gets better and better! I have always found people's interpretation of AI to be a bit archaic, Emulation of thinking is still not thinking. No matter how complex the decision making program. How is her mind stored? I hope not a delicate squishy thing! Id like to think a nice pretty lozenge of crystal or maybe even Atom Etched quantum memory!

Tarantad0 In reply to ArkTeck [2013-08-17 05:58:22 +0000 UTC]

Her mind is a crystalline "infinity-core", developed by her creator on her home world. Unlike most memory-storing devices which have a set capacity, the infinity-core is, like it's name implies, allows for a completely limitless amount of memory to be stored within a compact space. It emulates an organic brain's neuroplasticity through the use of hyper-advanced micro mechanics to create pockets of infinite memory storage, so there will be no limit to how much she can learn.

How does She feel about all this, how do you think being what she is Effects her emotions? being jettisoned to the stars to escape what are essentially her own people?

Tarantad0 In reply to ArkTeck [2013-08-17 17:09:33 +0000 UTC]

Well that's the thing; since she was just recently created before being shot out into space, Aurae was never taught about what emotions are and how to feel them. As of now, she is almost indifferent about her situation, but is confused about the details of why she was sent out into space. She only knows that she was created to live, and that her creator had assigned her a mission that she wants to comply with. Eventually she will develop her own emotions by learning from the Equestrians, and maybe her feelings about her sudden departure from her home world will be brought to light.

What sort of Sensorial range does she have? is she limited to the capability's of her creators? or does she have abilities like sonar and EM transmitters amongst an arsenal of instruments?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tarantad0 In reply to ArkTeck [2013-08-17 19:34:28 +0000 UTC]

Her sensory capabilities are just slightly above-average compared to a normal pony, but she has a few features that enhance and aid her in her mission. Among those features is an augmented listening mode, which allows her to focus and tune her hearing to pick up various sounds from moving objects, and reticules appear in her peripheral vision that point out to where the sounds are coming from. Unfortunately, the drawback to using this mode is that it requires to be turned on/off, and if she moves while the mode is active, the reticules will block her vision because of the amount of noise she's making, along with the ambient noise she was trying to listen to.

So is this galaxy's government based on a royal hierarchy? or a more diplomatic form of Sectorisation ruling? with a ruler designated to a particular group of systems? And what happened to the creator after his crimes came to light, surely the ruling individuals would see that someone of his scientific potential cannot be wasted or restricted. And haven't they thought of unmanned missions to pursue Aurae?

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

ArkTeck In reply to Tarantad0 [2013-08-18 17:40:02 +0000 UTC]

So is this galaxy's rulers dictatorate or more democratic? There could be a Sector based governing system, with a ruler designated to look after their regions and planets within. What happened to the creator in consequence of his crime's? by the sounds of it severe displeasure from his initial defiance but can they afford to lock up/ punish/ restrict someone so valuable?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tarantad0 In reply to ArkTeck [2013-08-19 03:20:07 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, I'll put it this way: the entire galaxy revolves around a monarchic rule under the Allseer, who is an immortal that has been bringing wisdom and peace for eons throughout the galaxy.

The Allseer has the Overseers, who govern the individual sectors and planets. The sectors follow a sort of democratic ruling by choosing who their Overseer will be. The Overseer can govern the sector however they see fit under certain rules. If the Overseer fails to follow the rules or is working against the Allseer, that Overseer will be trailed and replaced by another of that sector. Overseers must also must consult the Allseer before any drastic action is taken. Seeking an audience with the Allseer as a regular citizen is almost impossible compared to an Overseer.

The creator was placed in one of the featureless holding cells in the Silentium sector after the trial, the trial of which was filled with almost every individual in the galaxy crying in outrage over what he had done to defy the Allseer. They saw him as both a valuable and a dangerous pony, as he had done what they thought to be both impossible and forbidden. They interrogated and offered him things to try and find out where he sent Aurae, but he kept himself shut. The research he made on his home planet was also very useless, for the creator had written it in a code only he and Aurae could understand, and was impossible to decipher. With no choice, the Allseer requested groups of their best scientists to create their own AI to follow and track Aurae, who only have the one-track mind of finding and subduing her.

Are the rulers of this galaxy dictatorate or more democratic that that? Id imagine a sector based ruling with rulers being democratically designated regions of space and systems to maintain. What do you think happened to the creator as punishment for his crimes?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tarantad0 In reply to ArkTeck [2013-08-18 20:10:38 +0000 UTC]

The rulers of this galaxy are a relatively benign monarchy comprised of a higher being known as the Allseer, who dictates and controls sectors of the galaxy which are governed by ponies known as Overseers. The creator, having broken two taboos established by the Allseer, would have been sentenced to a sector known as the Silentium, where those who object and defy the laws are sentenced to solitary inside small, featureless rooms, where silence will be their only company. The creator would have been interrogated as to where he sent Aurae, and he would never give in.

Amazing, you making this up as I ask these questions? or is this all written down somewhere or even just pre thought out in your memory?

What about how she interprets herself? What do you think her reaction would be if somepony disregarded her as a lower life-form, as just a machine to do as its told? Is it in her interest to keep on friendly and respected standings?

Most of the answers I've given to you are like 70% written down and 30% made on the spot. I must confess, your questions actually helped bring me some new ideas to add to Aurae's story and to herself, so she's constantly being edited as her story goes along, so I thank you!

Aurae holds a calm demeanor a majority of the time when talking to others, no matter how hostile or chaotic the conversation or event. When speaking to those who think little of her, she remains calm and respectful of their opinions about her, or flat out ignoring it, opting more towards making peace than to retaliate. Though, she will still throw in her own opinion, which she is known to be brutally blunt and honest.

I made a /)^3^(\ face! Its nice to know my questions are constructive at least.. I thought they might have been edging on annoying.

I have been watching alot of 'Through The Wormhole, with Morgan Freeman' on discovery and have seen allot of correlation in how Aurae has developed and real Estimations of how Alien life may function.

With the capability of sending Aurae to another world, is the civilisation she came from particularly spaceborne? like intersolar or interstellar? or was she so on the bleeding edge of their technology that this action was quite a leap for her creator. If they are spaceborne and aware of Exoplanets have they made conscious efforts for communication or even reaching them in the past?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tarantad0 In reply to ArkTeck [2013-08-18 04:31:25 +0000 UTC]

The home planet that Aurae originates from is in fact spacefaring, but they only utilize the vessels to travel within their system. Interstellar travels have been attempted before, but due to their limited air supplies within their ships, extended traveling is almost impossible, an life has never been detected outside their galaxy anyways. Aurae's creator, however, found that there is in fact life that lies outside their borders, but is extremely far, and even he knew that such a journey will end before the destination is reached.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArkTeck In reply to Tarantad0 [2013-08-18 13:10:15 +0000 UTC]

So Aurae's vessel had to travel over a period of time that could have extended to within tens of thousands of years? Id suggest that Aurae's creator had to have had a form of supercomputer capable of seeing a infant planet potentially capable of life that might be receptive to her by the time she got there. Given that with the speed of light and what not, seeing Equestria through a detector as it is would indicate that the light reaching the detector could be 10,000,000 years out of date. Of course this is assuming that you are using our non pony laws of physics, which in the show are sketchy at best anyway, so id not blame you or anyone just saying that light is infinitely fast in the MLP universe to make good story.

How did the Government of her home system react to Aurae's creator defying them? are there any plans for them to pursue her?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tarantad0 In reply to ArkTeck [2013-08-18 16:59:15 +0000 UTC]

Well, Aurae's creator actually defied two major laws that were placed down in their galaxy, but interstellar travel was not the first. The first law the creator broke was creating a synthetic life form, or a "false life" as they would call it. While their galaxy is extremely technologically advanced, the rulers claimed that creating artificial intelligence that mimics life is a crime against nature and equinekind, as it defies many natural laws placed by their ancestors. Aurae's creator sent her away to the only thriving planet he knew outside their galaxy to protect her, which led to the second offense. Attempts to pursue her have failed, as since the air supplies on their ships are not fit for the journey, and Aurae's creator gave her a special helmet that recycles the air passing through her "lungs" while she slept in hyper sleep, so air supply on the ship would mean little to her.

Is her memory mechanical? As in there is a limit to what she can learn. Or is the part of her that stores memories more like other organic ponies remembering some things quite well while ignoring unimportant bits of information? Maybe somethings else entirely? I'm curious.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tarantad0 In reply to JaySG2010 [2013-01-23 05:07:27 +0000 UTC]

Her memory database is made to become as ever-expanding as an organic brain would, yet allowing her to retain and recall information in complete detail, meaning she has complete photographic memory. Despite what others would think, Aurae43 always seems to enjoy this gift her creator had given her, claiming it to be extremely helpful. Of course, her creator gave her the ability to delete and "forget" tidbits of information if she so chooses to, although more subtle and involuntarily.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tarantad0 In reply to CheshC [2013-01-20 06:04:03 +0000 UTC]

Her "cutie-mark" (given by her creator) is a thick red circular line with a smaller, thinner circle inside of it. The thicker larger circle represents the universe as a whole, in terms that the universe is never truly ending and that almost all planets, stars, and solar systems are represented as spheres in a physical form. The inner circle of the cutie mark symbolizes eternity and life, referring to her goals to learn about life and become more like a pony, and since she is sustained by obtaining knowledge daily (and that new things can be learned and discovered everyday), Aurae43 basically can live for an eternity, ergo the circle.

...yeah, I just gave it more thought than I should have given.
