...Uru had lived long enough to exile Scar?

EDIT: LOL tiny Simba is tiny! I realised after I drew it that Simba is waaaaaay too small! Oh well, hes cuter that way xD maybe rather than Sarabi having to make a birth effort he just kinda...fell out? xD

It was the evening after the presentation of the new heir to the Pridelands, and a warm sunset glow lit the savannah alight with radiance.

Uru, mother of the King, was lying at the very top of Pride rock, admiring her new grandson. Although she swelled with pride and joy when she nuzzled Simba, something in the back of her mind was troubling her. Uru was old, and her time on Earth was coming to an end. She did not fear death - she saw it as her passage back to her beloved Ahadi. No, her troubled mind was burdened by her youngest son; Taka.

"Mother, Zazu said you wanted to speak to me" said the dark lion as he climbed up to where his mother was. "He said that you had something you wanted to - Oh." Scar glanced down only to see Simba curled up in Uru's arms. He snorted with disgust and glared at the cub, annoyed that he didn't get two seconds alone with his mother without Mufasa or his brat being there.

"Taka, we need to talk" said Uru sternly, tightening her grip on Simba upon seeing the look in her son's eyes. "Why weren't you at your nephew's presentation? You know how important it was to Mufasa and Sarabi that you were there.."

"Because I don't care" He spat. "I've already had a lecture on this today, I don't need another. I don't care about my idiot brother or his precious hairball - now unless you have a different subject to discuss with me, I shall be leaving shortly!". Scar wasn't used to speaking to Uru this way - growing up she had been his comfort, and the only one who continued to call him by his birth name. Still, he didn't want to talk about them, and nobody could make him.

"What's gotten into you Taka?" she whispered, dispair in her eyes. "You talk about your family as if they're your worst enemies - what's this innocent little cub ever done to you?"

"Its not what he has done, mother, its what he will do. He's the spitting image of Mufasa, and will most likely grow up to be as arrogant and big headed. Besides, you and Ahadi said.."

"Ahadi...you mean your father Taka."

"No, I mean Ahadi. No father would do that to a son he claims to love. You two said I would be King after Mufasa, you said I was next in line! And now look what's happened.." Scar looked down again at Simba, malice growing in his heart.

"Whats happened is that you have a nephew. You are still a Prince Taka, and you always will be!"

"BUT NEVER A KING!" he snapped, turning away from the old lioness. "If it hadn't been born and he had some kind of accident then - "

"DO NOT SAY SUCH THINGS" roared Uru. "How dare you insult your family like this. Mufasa agreed to allow you to stay in the Pridelands because he loved you, and this is how you repay him? By rights you should be a rogue, Taka, you should be finding a mate and starting your own Pride! But instead we allowed you to stay here to be with those who love you."

"Well perhaps you shouldn't have." murmered Scar in a leathery voice. "Perhaps you should have forced me to leave when you had the chance".

"Thats what I wanted to speak to you about. You are my son and I love you. However, I worry about you. I worry about the things you say to everyone. You are rude to the lionesses, curse your nephew, wish accidents upon your brother...you are not the Son I remember."

"What are you saying?" asked the dark lion, slowly turning around to face his mother again.

"I'm saying that it's in the Prides best interest if you leave. I never, ever wanted it to come to this, but I will not risk you hurting those who try and love you." Uru's face dropped at having to say these words, she had dreaded this moment for a long time.

"You...you can't do this.." stuttered her son, never expecting this reaction. "You...you're not in charge anymore! You're not the Queen anymore, therefore you can't exile me!"

"No, I'm no longer the Queen. But I gave you life. I brought you into this world, and in return I ask you to leave and start a new life elsewhere."

"I don't owe you anything! You chose to give birth to me! I will not leave, especially not by the order of an ex - ruler who has no power over me!" he was desperately trying to find a loop-hole which would allow him to stay, but he couldn't think of one.

"I've spoken to your brother and Sarabi already - they both agree that your time has come. As does every other member of this Pride. Maybe if you had treated them better..but its too late now. A decision has been made. Please son, just go..."

"NO! I will not go without a fight!" he snarled, venom in his voice.

"You would challenge a whole Pride on your own? Don't be a fool Taka. Your hyenas are a long way away from here, they cannot help you. You would die, and none of us want that. You will always be my son, and I -"

"I am not your son" he whispered, voice as sharp and cold as ice. "I can see that you all want me gone. Well fine. As you wish. You are right, I would not risk my life. You shall never see me again, Uru." the dark Prince turned and began the descent back to the bottom of Pride Rock, where Mufasa, Sarabi and the rest of the Pride were waiting to escort him to the borders.

Back at the top, the elderly lioness took in a deep breath and whispered "Goodbye, Scar". Relief warmed her heart. She knew she had made the right decision in getting rid of him. He was not the son she knew and loved, and he was a danger to everyone if he stayed. Looking down lovingly at Simba, she purred and nuzzled his soft head, which was met with a "Mew" of appreciation from the young cub.

Meanwhile, Scar had been escorted to the borders of the Pridelands. Mufasa had confirmed the choice of exile to him, made it clear that the penalty of returning was death, turned, and walked away. He and Sarabi went to collect Simba and comfort Uru for a while, before returning to the den for the night.

The dark lioness, however, stayed at the top of Pride Rock, talking to the Great Kings of the past deep into the late hours. Uru's spirit began its journey back to Ahadi that night; she died in the knowledge that her family was safe and that her grandson would grow up to be a strong and wise King, just like his father.

This is for a contest over at . A "what if" contest!

I know this is a complicated idea, but I just dont think scar would have been allowed to stay when he was such a jackass and threatened everyone! And who better to exile him than Uru?

Anyways, this took AGES, so I hope you like it :3 Sorry if Scar is out of character, I suck at writing!
