Gear second? Didn't get that far into one piece. What is it?

Second Gear (Or Gear Second in the Japanese version) is basically Luffy using his rubber powers to pump blood into his body which when he uses this he becomes exponentially faster but at the cost of losing a bit of his lifespan from exhaustion. Third Gear (Or Gear Third in the Japanese version) Luffy makes the size of his fists and feet increase and deal greater damage against enemies but at the cost of speed and afterwards he shrinks down to a chibi size version of himself for a whole minute.

I honestly think Second Gear makes more sense as a translation to English rather than Gear Second. Also I thought it was kind of funny as well when I first saw it.
