Description
The 2nd Hazardous Warfare Formation Command, abbreviated as the 2 HWF, is a clandestine autonomous special taskforce for the research, development and deployment of CBRN weapons, normally biological or chemical in nature. While simply thought of as 1 HWF's 'sister' unit, its origins, history and true nature are heavily steeped in mystery, myth and legend.

In the public eye, 2 HWF assets are relatively innocent, assisting 1 HWF in the research and study of hazardous weapons and materiel in order to develop cures and counter measures. However, underneath the public veneer and behind the labcoats lies a sprawling and extensive network of secret labs, black ops units and unspeakable experiments. If 1 HWF's objective is to defend the Republik Angkasa against CBRN threats, then 2 HWF's objective is to attack enemy nations with the same CBRN threats.

One may be forgiven to think that 2 HWF is a breakaway from the 1st just from the name alone. 2 HWF (though it was not called this way), actually precedes the 1st by several decades, dating to the relatively ancient days of REDUSIN. It was essentially Autarch Ayzen's personal research division who worked with his viral flesh with the goal to understand and then improve it, key among several goals was the creation of the Immortal Army - an army of monstrous beings and mutants spawned from his flesh in order to quicken the inevitable domination of the world under Ayzen's grasp. After REDUSIN was transformed into RANGSI, Ayzen dissolved the Immortal Army and the research division lay essentially dormant - the original scientists moving on to other fields of science and technology. It was not until the Markenn War when Ayzen revived the idea of the Immortal Army to create what would become RANGSI's TANGO shapeshifting supersoldiers in order to level the playing field against the far superior Markenn armies, that the research division re-emerged as the 2 HWF, paired with 1 HWF just in case their renewed experiments with Ayzen's flesh went awry.

The 2 HWF is far smaller in scale than their 'sister' unit, nowhere able to field entire divisions of tanks, aircraft and troops. Instead, they operate as a layered force, their more public forces more akin to security guards while their true forces - several cells of highly trained black ops squads, operate in the shadows, pulling security for their secret labs and making sure that nothing that is not supposed to be in gets in, and that nothing that is not supposed to be out gets out...

It is widely alleged that the monstrous being on the 2 HWF patch is a mythical creature, a symbolic representation for the weaponized viruses and bacteria that 2 HWF scientists work with to ostensibly create cures for them. This could not be further from the truth, for it is in fact what the O100 once termed as a 'Mauler' - a staple of the Immortal Army.
