-----------------------------------------
Background: Originally devised by the Autarch and his circle of professional scientists and mechanics known as the 'Beta Division' in the mid-2080s as a deterrent to Monarch and Chasan invasion forces, the sheer complexity of its design caused frequent failures during the prototype construction and was cancelled to prevent further wastage of resources and manpower that were otherwise needed for the IRS's war effort against their invaders at that time. However due to its high potential, the designs and files related to the Mech-Tank was kept secured in a top-secret vault. It was not until the 2090s did the project to construct the Apollo began due to the need of utilizing every potential weapon the IRS could get to deter the Nagron armies. The Apollo project received several production delays as resources were constantly siphoned from the project for the war effort against the Nagrons. These series of delays only enabled the Apollo project to be at 100% after the IRS had somewhat recovered in the later days of 2095. Thankfully, the Beta Division scientists managed to devise several facilities, equipment and construction methods as well as modifications to the original design that enabled an easier production of the Apollo prototype and those that come after it. 3 years later, a working prototype was built and was tested at Camp Orion. The trials impressed the Autarch and his Central Command commanders, approving the project to mass production phase. Several war factories and some industries were given the order to mass produce the Apollo. By 2099, an adequate number of Apollos were combat ready against the Seperatists forces. The stalemate was eliminated and the tables turned to the IRS's advantage. The Apollos were deployed immediately from outer space in the middle of the enemy forces, waging havoc on the battlefield with mechanized companies burnt to smoking wreck and molten slag and the infantry units met with terrible massacred as high intensity lasers burnt their bodies and their bodies crushed under the Apollo's threads. As the Apollos cleared enemy formations, IRS troops, with renewed morale, would charge straight at the rmeaining enemies and secure their objectives. As the war with the Seperatists raged on, the Apollos were sent to the planet of Vegan III in the Vegan system alongside the assigned IRS invasion force to destroy the Dominion Alliance (An alliance of Monarch and Chasan forces). Now as some of them fight the Seperatists or the Dominion Alliance, avalible Apollos were sent to the IRS colonies in the Ancerious Galactic to reinforce its defences prior to the war waged by the D.C.I on the Immortal Empire. The Apollo remains a powerful weapon of war, able to destroy almost any enemy with great ease while still sporting a very sturdy armor plating to shrug off almost any powerful attacks. So far only a relatively few number of Apollos were destroyed in combat but most of them were repaired as their damages were not too severe.
Armament:Β It is undeniable that the most powerful weapon system that the Apollo has is the Plasma Pulsar Cannon located in the 'chest' area of the humanoid torso. With its own individual plasma-cell powered power plant, the Plasma Pulsar can dish out extremely powerful plasma shots to the extent of melting through standard tank armor coated with energy repellent layers as well as protected with energy shields as the highly sophisticated Plasma Fuel Cell Generator can produce enough heat to shoot out such powerful shots. Despite its slow firing rate, the Plasma Pulsar sports a high-damage-per-shot power and can destroy vehicles and turn it into molten slag with ease. The Pulsar is also effective as a long-range artillery weapon and can also be utilized to obiliterate enemy structure and bases. Complementing the Pulsar is the AutoLaser Cannons mounted on the arms of the Apollo. The AutoLaser has a high rate of fire and can dish out deadly laser fire on foes below. Each shot can burn a hole through infantry even with heavy armor plating and relentless continous barrages can melt through tank armor and destroy it in the process. The high rate of fire enables the AutoLaser to effectively engage enemy aircraft, giving the Apollo an adge over the enemy in the battlefield, especially in urban areas. During continous fire, the laser cannon must be allowed to cool down to allow heat that otherwise can endanger the Apollo's systems to be vented out. In short the AutoLaser cannons prove to be of essential help to the Apollo in wrecking havoc on the battlefield while the Pulsar Cannon cools down and recharge for another shot. To further enhance its anti-infantry capabilities, a seperate Machine Gun turret is placed on the cupola of the Apollo's upper torso. This turret is controlled by a gunner and can turn 360 degrees at the turn of the joystick. With a few modifications, the turret can be fully automated and controlled from inside the tank instead. Other weapons can also replace these standard ones and such examples are missile launchers (SRBM capable), flamethrowers, experimental Sentinel Divisionate plasma launchers and arc weaponry and more. One soldier once said that the Apollo's most powerful weaponry was not its guns, but its heavy threads that often crushed enemy vehicles and infantry alike.
Armor: The Tryomite Composite Naval LL-M Class armor plating can shrug off any small arms fire, large-caliber bullets, cannon shells, rockets and explosives with relative ease while providing above decent protection from lasers, plasma, microwave beams and decent amounts of anti-matter energy blasts such as Nagion. The Double Grade Medium Grade Naval Armor also prevents shaped explosives from penetrating deep within the armor and exploding from within, further limiting the potential damage that can be inflicted on the Apollo itself. Similar to the almost-invulnerable LLL-H Class armor of the RR-49 Reaper Battleship though a grade lower.
Mobility: For its behemoth size, the Apollo's Compact Hydrogen Fusion Reactor provides the necessary power to get the Apollo's high speed engines running for a long time. Sporting a top speed of 100KM/H on smooth terrain and 70KM/H on rough terrain, the Apollo can move from one location to another in a very short period of time and this proves to be of strategic value, especially when the Apollo is on artillery duty. The high speed of the Apollo gives it a high chance of surviving when it is retreating from potentially dangerous opponents. The Apollo's strong threads can traverse on any terrain and the velocity enables it to simply ram through obstacles such as rubble or wrecked cars without harm.
Sensory Equipment: Sporting the lastest computer hardware and software along with advanced detection systems, the Apollo can use its Etherium Pulse Sensor to find out the enemy positions, even if they are cloaked. The new communication systems allow the crew of the Apollo to transmit and receive battlefield intelligience such as GPS Positionning of allied and hostile units, terrain detail and the global map where the Apollo is currently situated in from a highly sophisticated military network known as the IIN (Intergrated Intelligience Network). The IIN allows commanders to assess the battlefield effectively and use the correct strategies to obtain a swift and effective victory over the enemy. The Artificial Intelligience installed onboard the Apollo can assist in managing battlefield data and organize it as well as providing self-diagnostics and current updates on the mission objective and orders broadcasted from commanding officers. The A.I can also accurate generate firing solutions and can also automatically adjust the elevation of the Pulsar Cannon for an accurate shot at the enemy. Additionally the A.I can take over the AutoLaser or the Machine Gun turret (if its automated) to terminate aircraft or infantry with deadly precision. It can also control the alternative weapons, proving itself to be of useful help to the crew.

I've got a question, with such a high turret mount how does it not topple over on uneven terrain?

Good question. I didn't think of that.
Well first the tank chasis is very heavy, providing a counterweight to avoid toppling backwards or sideways.
Though for climbing up steep slopes such as hills the Apollo has a electromagnet-like thingy in the chasis that pull the Apollo to the planet's gravitational field, keeping the Apollo in a stable position.
Besides the turret is not that tall. At least in what I imagined it as it is.

ah might be an issue of perception then.

Drawing error too i could have made turret lower too if i had physics in mind when I created this!

This is awesome. I love it. So much detail and extremely thought out. i love the main gun! I would so want to sprite this for you if i had access to a computer...
Overall i love the idea and think its really cool!
It begs the question... Does the IRS use super heavy tanks?

Thanks man I appreciate it! I would love to see the sprite so best of luck getting a computer!
Maybe the Baneblade-esque Mjonlir can count though recently it saw limited use as its large size makes it a easy target for enemy anti-vehicular weaponry.
