Ultimax 100M2 Light Machine Gun (LMG)

Role: LMG, Squad Automatic Weapon

Rate of Fire: 500-700 Rounds per minute.

Background: The Ultimax 100M2 LMG is the Interstellar Republic of Singapore's main Squad Automatic Weapon that is issued to one soldier per squad. It is used as a high-capacity assault weapon for suppressing enemy infantry with a high volume of fire. It can trace it's lineage all the way back to 1982 where it's ancestor; the Ultimax 100 Mk.1, was produced by the Singapore-based company CIS, which is now the ST Kinetics, for the Singapore Armed Forces. ST Kinetics continuously improved on the Ultimax, churning out the Mk.2, Mk.3, Mk.4, Mk.5 until the Mk.9 which was used by the S.A.F in 2018 against the Japanese soldiers that invaded Singapore during the Japanese Invasion of Asia. When Ayman gained control of the newly-developed African Union in 2030, he requested shipments of Singaporean Ultimax 100 Mk.9s to be purchased to replace all the ageing soviet RPDs that was used by the TDF in the Attrition War against the A.T.O. The African Union made modifications to the design of the Mk.9 and made a brand new machine gun; the Ultimax 100M2. Compared to it's cousins, the 100M2 was shorter in length and yet it had a longer range than its Singaporean counterparts. It was also lighter in weight and had a faster rate of fire. It still incorporated the recoil reducer, reducing recoil to the extent that the recoil was negligible. It was also well-received by the AU soldiers as the modifications of the 100M2 included all-terrain capability. Cleaning the machine gun was then an alien process to the AU soldiers as it could be immersed in mud, water and sand and could still fire. Once Singapore got wind of the 100M2, they purchased shipments of Ultimax 100M2 machine guns as well as it's production license. This machine gun remains to be in service as the Squad Automatic Weapon through the IRS years as it put down rebel factions off world, fighting the Monarch and exterminating the Chasa Dominion. It even saw action in the Nagron War, proving itself to be useful as its accuracy and high volume of power aids in bringing down large numbers of Nagron infantry. It is still used today as IRS soldiers fight the Seperatists and the Red Serpent forces.

Capabilities: The Ultimax can not only provide a high volume of fire, but also a large amount of firepower from its MER-V49 cartridge. The MER-V49 is micro explosive and can cause a good deal of damge against fleshy targets as each bullet detonates their small but otherwise lethal payloads of micro-explosives from their insides. The Ultimax is also very light for its class of weapon, weighing only about 5 Kilograms. It's installed recoil reducer and stabiliser modules in the weapon itself managed to reduce the level of recoil even on automatic to negligible. A trained soldier can fire the weapon single handedly at full automatic without sustaining any injuries. The railings mounted on the top of the body and on the handguard of the Ultimax allows tactical equipment such as holograpic sights, red dot sights, infrared sights, scopes and other equipment, to be mounted. The Ultimax 100M2 is a powerful weapon not to be taken lightly just because it is an old timer.

Originally I wanted the RPD to be the IRS LMg, but I chose the ultimax, because not only it is a Singaporean weapon, it is easy to reload, fast to change the magazines and has reduced recoil. So I quickly made my version of it, which is basically modernised with railings and shorter length.
