well lets see, I used a skin color and painted over the screen shot of him, then used the burn and dodge tools to put in his mouth and nose, then added a new layer to add shadows with the same skin color with the layer set to multiply and did the same thing for the highlights setting that layer to screen then dropped layers down to around 15% or until it looked good then added his eye's and did his hair and clothing using the orginal as a reference to see where things went and where to add shadows and such. There used ot be a tutorial out on the internet showing how to do it, but it's no longer up due to people claiming it as thier own so she took it down, but I printed it out when I first found it. But there is a girl here at DA that does almos the same thing, almost..not everything is the same but her tut is just as good. You could start with that
