And hey, isn't that what art's about, drawing/writing about what's in your head? If it were normal, who'd want to look at it? They'd already have it!

I usually rate pictures by how long it would take ME to do them (including the false-starts for the parts where I would have no idea what the heck it is I'm doing) as that's the only yardstick I've got.
Most two hour sketches I do do not look like that. I've done about seven concept sketches for a novel I'm writing (if I can SEE it, I can discribe it better and it gives me an idea of just how practical the ideas really are) in the last two days and I KNOW none of 'em looked like that.
So I guess my reaction is...ONLY two hours?????

.heh, the thing is, i've been working for game ,film/tv, music videos, advertising comics for over 8 years now..professionaly. So i had to train myself to work very fast and as accurately as possible. i see the picture in my head and then tweak it as i'm drawing it. Sometimes i just blank out everything and just let my hand make the marks. I guess on a subconscious level the ideas are still there, but i'm not forcing myself to think about it and clutter up the idea with inconsequential detail..

Which would explain a lot of my problems. I have had NO training whatsoever. Totally self taught, which means there's a lot of bad visual habits and cobwebs in my attic. I have vauge plans to go to art college...but unfortunately they're gonna remain vague until this certain, rare species of green stuff gets unrare.
But I think I know what you're talking about...I sometimes "zone out" when I'm writing, and things just go from somewhere in my subcontious through my hands to the screen without ever being a contious thought. It's more difficult for me with drawing, as there's still a lot of contious "this goes there" thought process involved.

The left-side figure's armour is so beautifully organic. That huge tube connected to the sword gives the impression that one should definately beware it's swing, but to also shoot for the tube.

all ya gotta ooz is confidense when you hit skin....nice long fluid sweeping lines...no shaking, no hesitancy,...if you got these quailitys, youll find,you can tattoo...let me know how ya giet along with it if you try. hey i could maybe sell you some kit....Needle wise i used three 00s for outlining and and forteen 00s for shading...and two layers ov 7 00s offset for chinese water shading....cool trick i learnt from a Maori tattooist from new zealand....aint nothing like tattooing people to expirience real life school. when i first started, i fucked up on quite a few big blokes.... time for on the spot damage limitation, lol. if all esle fails just say get the fuck out my shop. and shrug lazily....aah the memories. hehe. all ya need to start tattooing is....somewhere ya can get hold of some tattoo gear, and a large friend base full ov idiots who will let you tattoo them...knowing you aint ever put a needle to skin before...i was lucky i had both. when i was at school, although i was a real naughty boy, the whole school teachers and kids included knew how good i was at art...so when i got my tattoo stuff every little teenager in the schools eyes lit up....Wooooooo Chaos is a Tattooist, and so it was, from that day, Chaos the Tattooist.

Jebus...lmao..likes it...heh. yup i started at school but i gave it up after awhile, then when i had left school i bought a small set up and started again...i still had all the same friends...so i was sound for kids to practice tattooing on until i was confident enough to consider my self a tattooist. the reason tattooing is such a hard game to get into is simply because from an early age you need so many friends to practice on.......and your social skill have gotta be spot on. Other wise well you tell nasty drunk upset people to get the fuck out your shop,....they wont.....then what would ya do.
