this resting place holds many pets
including the feline sort
among these gravestones' silhouettes
are cats whose nine lives ran short
Scout preferred to stay inside
on days her owner was out
but had nowhere to run or hide
when hot flames blocked her route
Slick had never learned to swim
but was interested in the pool
one day he jumped in on a whim
and learned curiosity is cruel
thunder frightened Sef the cat
so he hid in a tree
lightning struck and Sef fell flat
chances no one could forsee
Specs was lost and searching for heat
as winter months are tough
fell forever asleep atop a snowy sheet
in shelter not warm enough
in rain enough to cause a flood
Sketch ran about in distress
an unexpected flow of mud
left her buried in the mess
