The TEC-9 is a semi-automatic pistol (according to US law). It is the American development of the Swedish Interdynamic MP-9 submachine gun. The TEC-9 developed a negative reputation for its association with organized crime and mass shootings in the 1990s. At first, it was an open-bolt firearm, but since it was really easy to convert to full-auto, the design was changed to a closed-bolt system. It was produced from 1985 until 2001.
