When I got the job to do these illustrations I had to come up with the ideas on my own. One time while vacationing along the Jersey shore I was walking by a guy who was on a pay phone. By his side was a lovely young lass, and I could overhear the conversation. He was telling his wife over the phone this very same thing as in the illustration. I almost felt like yelling something, but I didn't.

I was only making up my own version of the joke. I wasn't trying to suggest you use a different conversation or anything like that. I think I would have stooped to yelling something loud enough so his wife could pick it up over the phone, like "Hey Mike! Don't tell me you forgot the beachball!" or "Are you sure you brought enough towels for everyone?" or "Is Tom bringing the beer cooler?" xD
