His darkness extracted from his heart long ago turned into human form, Vanitas, merged with the unwilling Ven at the last battle and takes him over, creating the X-Blade and trying to destroy Aqua, he is defeated. But sadly, Ven does not wake up, for when he was taken over he lost his heart. He couldn't awaken until his heart could find its way back, but Aqua still tried to help the best she could. Ventus, instead of finding himself again, found Sora, the young successor Aqua had found worthy of one day wielding a Keyblade of his own. He merged with his heart, but when Sora had attacked himself to free Kairi's heart to save her in KH 1, that heart was free, but instead of just going into darkness, it helped shape Sora's Nobody, Roxas. And Sora was brought back from being a Heartless by Kairi, as well as that.''
