Before I even saw the title, bubbles is exactly what I thought of.
I've been attempting to mix motion blurring and nebulae to get some interesting effects, but I have yet to succeed in doing so. Fabulously done!

btw, have you tried creating motion blurred stills? basically you just take still params, make a random 30 sec animation (dont worry that much about the animation looking cool etc, you just need the motion blur), crank blur amount up (1,5 or even 20
