This little bad boy might as well be feral, cause he sure acts like he is. Russ is a fighter, stubborn like hell, who likes to get things done his way and only his way. He’s a bucker at heart and gets snappy real quick when annoyed, though he’s never bitten someone with the intention to hurt. Basically, Russ is just a big asshole.
Maybe if he allows himself to trust someone, he might start to settle down just a little...
B A C K G R O U N D
Russ was bred by a renowned breeder in the US before he was bought by Double Acres Ranch when he was 3 years old. Despite what some may think when seeing how he behaves, Russ is not a product of his environment, he’s just naturally feisty with a strong sense of contradiction that made it hard to work with him from the get go. But his owners at the time knew he had the potential to be a great horse if he was trained properly. Tom Martin was the one to train the young stallion for the following years, ironing out most of his worst habits though the bucking and fiery behavior remained and Martin assumed would probably never leave.
Martin figured that with a lot of work and attention from a dedicated rider that Russ could bond with, then maybe he could finally reach that potential that the young horse has within him. Which is why his owners believed that it would be better for him to be rehomed.
Russ eventually found his way to Bluehill Farm to be “tamed” and trained by professional horse trainer Nathaniel (who fucking needs a last name, what am I doing ??). The hope is that Nate’s calm and stable character would bring some balance to Russ’ feisty and combative spirit.
Now at DGS he will be taken on the road for shows . and training to become some great horse on so many different disciplines .
