Description Scabbard.

To approach the scabbard, what I essentially decided to go with was to make a layered wooden box to encase the blade, comprising of two halves that sandwiched together.

First I cut the two halves of the scabbard from two planks of 12mm pine with a jigsaw.

Taking one-half I traced on the outline of where the blade would sit when sheathed, and built up a sort of encasing structure around it out of plywood until the height was just larger than the blade width.

Before closing up the opposite side, I had some cloth trimmed and glued to match the cavity spaces to protect the future paintjob of the blade. Not only does the cloth prevent the paintjob to a degree it also provides a bit of friction to ensure the blade does not rattle all fall out the end.

After testing the sword could sheath, I glued on the other half with ordinary wood glue.

Next stage is to clean up the shape of the scabbard, seal off the ugly exposed faces and finish detailing it by adding the trigger and ammo magazine.

So look forward to that.

For more clarification, regarding the aesthetics of blush, It essentially has two forms, on his the sheathe mode and the second is the rifle.
While in sheathe mode it basically dons the appearance of that of a traditional ninjato sheath with the exception of the rifle trigger and magazine attached at the front end. However when in rifle mode, Blush transforms into a rifle where the end sheathe expands and folds into itself to create the colonial rifle butt while the barrel. When the blade is reinserted into the rifle barrel, blush then transforms back into a normal sheathe. Re-watch the trailer of look up reference pictures on the wiki if your unsure.

Let's all be on the same page about something, the transformation of Blush makes it pretty much impossible to do what your seeing in the trailer but its based on Mounty Oum's reasoning of "WHY THE FUCK NOT?!". Not sure how you plan to interpret Blush Tatsutetsu but it will be intersting none the less.

Hmm....the only problem I see with this is that the sword actually inserts into the barrel, not the stock. And the barrel is not that long. Unless, of course, you're just doing your own take on the weapon.

Oh sorry. I meant barrel as in gun barrel.

Very nice, although in the trailer, Blush has a much more colonial era rifle butt, as well as a clearly designed pronounced cartridge. Looking forward to more updates.

It changes constantly in length and design throughout the course of the sequence depending on what “mode” it’s in so you sort of have to make a comprise on which version you want to go with.
