Wasn't really sure how to categorise this...anyone?

This is entirely done for kicks and giggles. Let me explain

I got talking to about Tomb Raider after falling in love with one of her TR paintings. Honestly, if you like the games or the character - you gotta head over to her gallery. There are no words for it.

Anyway, I took a nice trip down memory lane in this conversation. I've grown up with Tomb Raider. I sat religiously by my dad when I was little and cheered, freaked and puzzled away alongside him for days on the original games (I was too scared to face the mercs and creatures myself XD).

But we never got to Angel of Darkness, because times change. Cut to several years later, I got my mitts on a PS2 version of TR Legend - the first of a new set of games, created under the direction of a new company. I was used to Lara on the PC, but I love other PS2 games, so I got into Legend really quickly and did most of that myself with my dad watching XD. But I never finished it before life kicked in, I finished school and started college.

Legend took a backseat to all the cold winter mornings on the yard, piles of assignments and struggles to settle in the new environment.

So when I got talking to =Aida20 It brought back this part of my childhood. I have sorely missed it, I'm only now realising, and since then, I've really felt like drawing some of Lara.

I never could before, coz my people skills were more than appalling. They're still not stellar, but they've improved enough that I'm actually really happy with this. Especially the face - which I was dreading XD. I've still got a ways to go, though

So this is just some random Tomb Raider fan art, coz I felt like it, and coz this kick-ass adventurer is a quite large part of my childhood.

I've got another pose sketched out, but I dunno when it'll be up because I want to do it justice and this one took long enough as it is

Honestly, I can't remember if this is an official costume, but I've seen things very similar in other art, so I went with it. Its more of a 'classic' Lara than the new versions, but my next one will be Legend's version.

I think that's it.

I started the sketch for this around 9 this morning and have been working most of the day (I breaked for lunch and to read ). Its now around 1am.

I used this amazing piece, just as a general guide for the pose: [link] Once the shapes were down, I didn't use it anymore.
I used this help sheet for the eyes: [link] I love Burdge's style for her eyes, though I tried to go for realistic with the rest, so I might change her eyes to fit better...

Other than that - I did all the shading, colours, gun and costume designs without a ref. I may have invented muscle groups again...
