"I'm serious. That Barn owl that's been roosting in the new barn - just watch it some time. It talks to Heaven."
"And I suppose she talks back?"
"Pretty sure she does."
"And do the dogs have conversations with the goats, too?"
"Probably. It wouldn't surprise me given how much they get out. Its either an inside job or they're in cahoots with someone on the outside."
"You make it sound like an episode of Prison Break."
"You're avoiding the point. Heaven and the Barn owl are friends."
"Who talk."
"Yes. Don't mock me."
"About what?"
"About wh- what? How should I know?"
"Well you seemed so certain..."

And as the voices fade away, their owners retreating down the barn into the evening air, Heaven flicks a glance to the very barn owl in question, perched elegantly on the rail in her stable, and raises an eyebrow - as best a horse can - in a combination of bemusement and disbelief. Cossy's rounded head tilts just slightly, the ruff of snowy feathers around his eyes lifting in an owlish rendition of Heaven's own expression.

'Well they're not wrong'.
'No', Cossy agrees. 'But how absurd'.
'What is?'
The owl shrugs his wings and ruffles his feathers. 'Goats don't talk'.

Just a little bit of fun.

I adore Cossy but I've only drawn him a couple of times. I have a few days off from work and we're mostly on top of paddock chores, so I'm trying to get Heaven that last stretch to Excellent Blood Only a few kaaring to go!

As you can likely tell, no references used. This idea was all centred around these matching raised-eyebrow expressions, so I just sort of let it happen. Possibly not too well, but there we go
