Historical fanart of Mama Greece and Romano from Hetalia, to get kicked again into digital art! Very quick picture of Momma Greece and her first little adorable colony Romano, mostly cos we shouldn't forget, Southern Italy was ruled over by the Ancient Greeks, and not Romans, who only came along later, so technically, in my headcanon, Romano would be son of Mama Greece.I do NOT own Axis Powers: Hetalia, just the crappy art

Romano and Italy are both the grandsons of Rome with an unknown parents and unknown grandmother whereas Greece is the son of Ancient Greece. A lot of fans think that Greece is also the son of Ancient Rome and is Romano's and Italy's uncle (or possibly his sons) but most of that is just fan headcanons.
The only confirmed information is that Romano and Italy are the grandsons of Ancient Rome and Greece is the child of Mother Greece.

I, my good sir, think Italia is older. BUT thats only the conclusion I came to with the americans view point, so like half the stuff I know about Rome may very well be wrong. I'll find out when I eventually get to go to Italy.Β

Ah, I see xD Although, just from the history we do study in Italy ourselves, we basically tend to believe that the southern part is indeed older, especially since the nothern part had no colonies of Greece and such in its territories, and Rome only arrived later on, but it's all based on different points of views indeed

yes... but im very curious. So far, we believe that the first people must have come from the areas near Egypt and parts of Africa. So if they expanded, wouldnβt Italy be one of the first places to reach? It would make Italy (likely) older than china!Β Ugh.. I must know.. I MUST KNOW!!!!! I am actually from south Italy and this part of history is definitely one of the most amazing ones we have xD but yes! I can see Rome and Mama Greece fighting over him all the time!

Yeah, maybe some people just doesn't want to believe that Romano age is in fact almost the same as Spain and France (anime episode 1)
it just that He and Italy grow slower than the rest because Rome is still alive at that time (at the beginning of season 1 Chibi France just seem to be older 2/3 years than chibitalia but get older faster in later episode that make their age gap grew to 15 years or so )

Yeah, Romano is at least as the same age as France, especially because they were different kingdoms, to say so, in the same time lapse.
Though Romano would definitely be older, even if he was born at the same time as northen Italy, though I doubt it, like some people think, because some cities in southern Italy were already developed by the time northen Italy still needed help from Rome later on.
