Description
Hunting collab between sealle and myself. This one was a lot of fun and this RP is just amazing so far. Our characters are developing so much and I'm excited for the rest to come. ^^

Continued From: Restless Spirits

...Anna scanned the land and she reached out for Tuaq’s arm, getting his attention as she pointed. Far off into the open field, a few small, dark bodies were moving towards the creek. “Caribou.” Without hesitation, Anna was up off the ground and untacking Solv. They could retrieve their things after the hunt.
  The two Tokotas demeanour shifted. Kaniq had intensified, body wound tight like a loaded spring, and Solv had shifted from the relaxed playful creature he had seen so far to a focused and eager hunter. Every time Tuaq worked with these large predators he was reminded of their power, strength, and the deadly grace it was so easy to forget when they were in the roles of companions and guardians.
  He moved back, silently echoing Anna as he slipped Kaniq free of her girth and chest plate. The saddle and gear slid into his arms, and he gently placed it on the ground, careful to avoid any loud noises or clinking metal. He reached into one of the bags, retrieving his knife and the length of rope. He slipped the latter over his arm and head, settling it into a comfortable position before he signaled Kaniq to slink down the hill behind him.
  He almost started off parallel to the clearing through the trees, but a few steps and he halted. It was so easy to fall back into his routine of hunting alone, this time they would have to figure out how to hunt as a group. He looked at Anna, how would she normally direct the hunt, did she have other techniques or knowledge from working with multiple animals.
  He worried Kaniq would not adjust well. She had never hunted with another animal, and she could get rather tense and protective when she was challenged. Luckily she seemed more interested in ignoring Solv, if it was ever going to work, he would be the perfect first hunting partner for her.
  Resting a hand on Kaniq’s shoulder he gripped his knife harder than usual. This would be a learning experience for them all.
  Seeing that Tuaq had slowed Kaniq, Anna hesitated with Solv, keeping a hand woven into his curly mane. She too, had retrieved a knife from her pack and was ready to go. Solv was a bundle of energy next to her. He still hunted with the energy and enthusiasm of a puppy and now, at the worst of times, Anna realized she should have discussed a plan with Tuaq.
  Pointing to Kaniq and waving her arm out to the field, Anna gestured for Tuaq to release Kaniq. It was best the female got the head start. If she came after Solv, any fighting could scare off their prey. Holding up three fingers, Anna prepared to count down, but Solv had other plans.
  Before she could even lower one finger, the enthusiastic male sprung from his place. Holding in a string of curses, Anna could do nothing but watch him fly off in the direction of the caribou. An angered and helpless look crossed her face as she watched. With a deep inhale, she took off after him, knowing full well it was too late to stop him now. The hunt was on.
  Kaniqs crouch deepened as the curly male bolted past. The harsh breath from Anna was echoed in a muffled whine that started to escape Kaniq’s throat. Tuaq flicked his hand, fingers pointed at the elk and Kaniq surged forward. Her teeth bared and a snarl plastered her face as she raced to catch the other hunter. Reaching her top speed she closed in on him, using her larger stride and sheer determination to draw even.
  Tuaq’s breathing was getting ragged as he struggled through the muck. The new snow created a barrier that made moving fast difficult without the Tokota’s or snowshoes. He found himself wishing he had his Ski’s with him. It was the most exercise he had done for a while and soon his side was starting to twinge with each breath. He slowed, he would be no help at all if he couldn’t breath when he reached the two Tokota’s.
  Kaniq and Solv were close, the herd had seen them and scattered. It would all be decided in the next few minutes.
