I honestly don't care what anyone else says, in my own opinion your pixel-art skills really are incredibly impressive. This honestly looks just like the old video games I used to see as a child!

Well, there's nothing wrong with that... many of my own artworks that people have surprisingly ended up loving started out as exercises in boredom as well, so by no means should that invalidate anything! You are quite welcome in any case, of course. ^_~

I can animate small basic things like this But nothing grand or really involved, which is why you never see me do anything like walk or fly animations.

Looking at your gallery, you have a lot of mockup-like pixel art deviations that are in a lower resolution. That's awesome! Plus you pulled this one off especially well. Despite the lack of vivid colors, you still pulled off all the details incredibly well. Keep it up!

I really find these mocks a lot of fun (plus I admit they're kind of easy sometimes) and a lot of people really like them, so I always try to do one now and then because it's just nice for everyone xD It makes me happy that everyone likes them so much. I'll surely do more~

I actually spent a good bit of time studying cartoon blinking to get it just right. It's surprisingly simple, and even easier to mess up than to get right. The idea is identifying the key points in what makes it look best
I basically concluded that three frames of animation were best, no more and no less:
Fully open
Closed by roughly 30%
Fully closed
After that, you just need to set the speed correct. In this case, 6 cs (or 60 ms) per frame. That's what I used :o
