Description ---------------------------------------------------------------------
BEFORE ASKING FOR ONE, PLEASE LOOK HERE! Apparently people on DA dont know how to read, so Im posting this right at the top and making it as simple as possible.
You do NOT have to ask if you can have one. I am pretty good about keeping adoptable sheets updated, so if it doesnt have an owner next to it its most likely available. Pick which one you want and post the following information...

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Personality/history/bio:

...-AND- a DRAWN BID or POINTS (see individual biran for price, both are appreciated but Im only asking for one).

For help with the info, PLEASE refer to the breed sheet tawadi.deviantart.com/art/Bira…

If you can read plain English, you are already well on your way to getting one of these creatures.

First come, first serve.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other rules:
You MAY...
-Give it a name
-Choose its age
-Show it
-Use it for RP
-Note me for a custom made animal

You may NOT...
-Claim biran as your own idea
-Claim individual animal as your own creation
-Breed it or otherwise create your own
-Resell to anyone but me

-------------------------------------------------------------

Finally got around to making my first set of biran adoptables, huzzah.

Biran, lines, colors (c) (me)

I will accept points plus a filled out information sheet (see below), or a well drawn bid with the same information. Prices are based on rarity, rarity is based on a combination of size, physical characteristics, and color. Rarity has no affect on the biran itself, it only determines how much it costs, how picky Ill be about drawn bids, and how likely youll see another like it. Rarity goes: common (20), fairly common (25), uncommon (30), rare (35), extremely rare (40), unheard of (50+, will likely only be seen on customs)

The big ones are between the ages of 2 and 5, while the little ones are a matter of months. Feel free to pick the specific age. Age isnt super important, but may affect how quickly the biran adjusts to a new home and new companions. Since they are very difficult to breed in captivity, they are considered not breedable (until further notice. Even if I do make them breedable, it will only be with other biran). I want to keep them somewhat rare and in good hands, so I will be picky about submissions. Im limiting 1 per sheet per person for now.

Whether you decide to pay with a drawing or points you MUST fill out the following:

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Personality/history/bio:

I will check for consistency, so I suggest reading the breed sheet. You dont need to know the names of all the bones, but I will expect you to know how many toes are on each foot (ahem, GG). tawadi.deviantart.com/art/Bira…
Id suggest also seeing my personal imports in case you arent sure what something means (if you still arent sure, please ask before bidding!)

They are listed by their most prominent feature, usually which bird they most closely resemble.
Next to the name will be blank, say "current bidders:" or "adopted by"
Blank names are completely open, untouched. Ones with "Current bidders" next to the name have had information filled out on them, and I am just waiting for the drawn bid or points; you can try outbidding on these (first come first serve). The ones with "Adopted by" are gone, do not ask if they are available.

If you have someone you trust who is interested in the mare you are welcome to gift her, but since you didnt pay for her it isnt really fair for you to make money off my design. I am also kind of a control freak and dont want someone getting the creature that doesnt know anything about it.

I'd love to give #5 a home. I would pay with points.

Name: Charak
Age: 5 years
Gender: male
Personality/history/bio: No one is sure how Charak's egg found it's way to my world but it was found by Amethyst, a small dragon who's chosen was married to the King's advisor. The egg was a curiousity after the dragon told her chosen is was not a dragon egg but wouldn't share with her what it was as was a habit of the little creatures

Having imprinted on hatching to one of the children that were often present around the little dragon, the Biran is a regular site around the castle's stable yard and no longer a curiousity after five years.

Charak is trusting of people and gentle. He is often treated to handouts from those who frequent the stable yard and is a favorite among the children who hang around. He is often brought apples and other goodies by them. He enjoys a portion of most kills the king's wolves take down as well.

Spoiled and content, this Biran loves the attention lavished on him.

Did I forget anything? I feel like I did. Gah..I hate when that happens!

Tawadi In reply to WolfWhisper [2011-02-02 17:45:44 +0000 UTC]

Not sure how a biran egg got smuggled into a dragons castle, but a lovely story it is! And you even referenced their omnivorous diet

Ill take the points, the price should be listed

WolfWhisper In reply to Tawadi [2011-02-02 17:59:55 +0000 UTC]

Points sent!

My main character is grumbling about things have a habit of just showing up on this world (she should know, she's not from here to begin with and didn't get the choice of coming when she did!).

And yes, I did. Wanted you to see I read your breed sheet and not just looked up the number of toes on front and back feet!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tawadi In reply to WolfWhisper [2011-02-02 18:10:58 +0000 UTC]

As if now there are no (successful) mainland breeding sites, so theyre all imported foundations. There are plenty of smugglers sneaking them off the island though, so its possible they show up where they arent supposed to. Its lucky it got picked up so quickly, they dont stay as eggs very long

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WolfWhisper In reply to Tawadi [2011-02-02 18:23:52 +0000 UTC]

It's those little dragons. They're suppose to guide and protect their chosen but they're often very frustrating to said chosen. The have the ability to see some of the future to help them with guiding and protecting (not all of the future but some). Unfortunate for the chosen they don't share what they know often. Amethyst most likely knew the egg had appeared on my world and even 'saw' what it was. She may even know how it got there but that she's not sharing either!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tawadi In reply to WolfWhisper [2011-02-02 18:54:50 +0000 UTC]

Maybe she foresaw that the smugglers werent very kind to their quarry and took pity on it? Or maybe she just decided she wanted it for herself XD Not just anyone can say they have a pet biran after all

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WolfWhisper In reply to Tawadi [2011-02-02 19:03:15 +0000 UTC]

You never know with her. Kaz is pouting she's not the only one with a Biran. She'd originally wanted the Emperor until I messaged you about the custom import. She was going to call the Emperor Chill and had a fit when I tried to put that down as his name for this adopt.

I'm going to have to acquire a female at some point. I know there hasn't been a successful breeding off the island but there can't even be a possiblity of it down the road if there's not at least one of each gender present! It would be nice to have both if in the future someone figures out the secret to getting them to breed outside their home.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tawadi In reply to WolfWhisper [2011-02-02 19:09:53 +0000 UTC]

Part of what makes them difficult to breed is that theyre geared toward breeding in a cave in whole flocks. Some breeding has been successful on the island by virtue of the islanders having access to familiar caves and whole flocks of biran, while most mainlanders get one, maybe two, and often dont have access to good nesting sites.

I would be happy to offer to let your biran mingle with mine, but 3 boys and 1 girl probably wont be very successful either

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WolfWhisper In reply to Tawadi [2011-02-02 19:16:38 +0000 UTC]

Got me wondering about genetics some. Does the type and color/pattern have anything to do with what a baby will look like? Can the pattern be muttled?

Darn. We're going to need more females..a nice group of them. I can't try for another on the adoptables sheet as it's one per adopter!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tawadi In reply to WolfWhisper [2011-02-02 19:46:49 +0000 UTC]

Shoulda thought of that before you picked a boy!

In all honesty, thats another reason I havent bothered with breeding yet...I didnt think of genetics XD
So far Ive figured out that solid or mottled dull colors are most common, likely making them dominant. So some atypical patterning might be passed down but would depend on the rarity of the parents coats. For example, Your Gyr and my Gold wouldnt make little blue babies. They would probably be mottled brown with a white throat or something and ruddy tail.
Crest thickness is easy, since it would be controlled by one codominant gene, lets say a T gene; TT would be thick, Tt would be thin, tt would be sparse. Yay Mendel.
Skin/beak color, like feather color, tends to be dominated by shades of gray, so thats probably dominant over shades of yellow. Yellow shades of eye color (from creme to dark brown) are dominant over all other colors; second most common being red.

Ill think of it more when it comes to that. For now Im restricting breeding because I still want to keep them rare and special, and I dont want just anyone getting hold of one. I like to keep a vice grip on my creations

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WolfWhisper In reply to Tawadi [2011-02-02 20:01:54 +0000 UTC]

I can't dictate who will scream at me to adopt them! I looked at the sheet when you posted it and the Emperor was the one that started bugging up a storm

I figured you wanted to wait a while with breedings, it's why I said if anyone figured out how to get them to breed down the road/in the future. Actually figuring they don't breed until they're older anyway since their lifespan is so long too. Giving my characters a number of years with their Birans before that would actually be a possiblity.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tawadi In reply to WolfWhisper [2011-02-02 20:32:33 +0000 UTC]

Even if/when I do open up breedings to the general community, it will probably only be with select people like you and my friend

Finally going to get started on your lizard horse, just gotta figure out where I put that motivation.
