Now that you mention it, it reminds me of the time when people thought Steve's chances were ruined by Banjo & Kazooie's debut, yet here we are now.
Then again, it seems unlikely we would see more than 2 third-party characters from the same company as D.L.C. characters.

It's hard to decide a character from each company, but I can think of at least 1 rep. For a Capcom rep, I think Phoenix Wright would be an interesting character as a fighter. Some say he doesn't actually fight, but he has made an appearance in Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Why not both? They've got multiple third party companies that have two reps; Sega has Sonic and Bayonetta, Capcom has Mega Man and Ryu, Konami has Snake and Simon. Microsoft could have both Banjo-Kazooie and Steve in Smash.
