Description 'Ere he is, the 'ardest nob around.

Short of humiliating himself by donning a set of mega-armour, there is no way for Ledhed to become a harder, rougher, more aggressive footslogging ork soldier. His devotion to his ugly art of warfare is unparalleled and has generated a violent fanaticism amongst his squad of 'ardboyz. They follow him to the letter, awed by his size, strength, furious purpose and surprising battlefield cunning. His aspirations stop here as he has no mind for the higher levels of warfare, logistics, organization, politics and the manipulation needed to manage a world-wide or interstellar Waaugh. A violent and potent resource for any aspiring warboss, Ledhed is easily manipulated by intimidation and possesses that same admiration for his superiors that his boys possess of him. As much as he was 'borne to follow', he resents the control placed upon him, yet is terrified by taking control of his own destiny short of the few scenarios he has come to dominate in life.

he is, a 'ard boy nob, he's basically the ork slugga boy that has had every lesson beat into him (literally) and lived to tell the tale

I'm to lazy to read all the other comments so I'm going to proly say waht everyone else has most likely already said... holy crap that's one stabby looking sword! If flames were metal, I'm sure that's what they'd look like! (the blades apprearance really dfoes remind me of flames). Looking forward to the coloured version! (you will colour this, won't you?)

damn straight, yet his ultimate dream is to be part of said interstellar Waaugh (or Waaughs!) and excel and excel over and over, but not to deal with leading them. If one were really to dig down, you'd find that he ultimately would LOVE to annihilate everything near him, and OWN said WAAUGHs, but hasn't the personal belief that all good Warbosses and Warlords need to do it.

when I see the words "ork" and "politics" in such a proximity, my brain does not compute and shuts down))

That's a mighty big an' tuff ork right thar. I like his chainfist the best, that's one awesome weapon, while the swords looks a bit too intricate for me. As far as I know and use cold weaponry, the more complex it is, the less convenient and durable it is.
Anyway, love how you render the armor, it's always so 3D like and real, with all the battle damage and stuff, good job on it.
And nice fluff btw. One can see that this nob doesn't think much about improving his career, he likes to fight and is content with the role.

I am not a giant fan of the choppa either. I loved the choppa I gave him in the first sketch but I haven't been able to copy its exact 'feel' yet. This one is too big. I am going to assume he as a number of h/h weapons, the Klaw being the only one that is a constant staple of his diet of overkill. I am currently scheming up an Orky katar that this bruiser would use in close quarter combat (as, kitted right now, Led is useless in a tunnel or hallway)

But yeah, I am proud of that Klaw man. The entire bust and that klaw is by far the best stuff I've drawn in a long time. Thanks for the props!

kombat-unit In reply to Taytonclait [2008-09-25 14:56:18 +0000 UTC]

Maybe a more simple, crude design would work? Like you know, smthg kinda PyramidHeads big ugly knife?

A katar sounds nice)))

Heh, you sure seem to have an awesome consistency with such high-detailed drawing, you seem not to get lazy on the designs (like I do). So color up that guy, these lines are definetly worth it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Taytonclait In reply to kombat-unit [2008-09-26 03:54:05 +0000 UTC]

the Katar is so satisfying as it is a choppa and knuckleduster all in one. It really amplifies that stabbing/punching motion that any ork nob loves to exploit. I am thinking of extending it down so it straps on his forearm armour for extra support, with spikey bitz for a elbow piledriver move or two. Then I start thinking chainsword, and things just keep going from there.

Ledhed's custom, home made choppa is is supposed to be a traditional choppa made in his version of a giant chainsword style. More his only vagrant artistic pursuit than a truely effective weapon, but if you were to dig into the size of the weapon and tabletop rules, it fits the 'great weapon' class nicely and is thus good for taking down big tuff beasties.

Ledhed is supplied by Bosch (possible other name pending...) and a such has a variety of weapons at his disposal. I will be doing some sketches/collages of them for practice and design because making orky weapons is insane fun.

I have yet to see Pyramidhead's big ugly knife, but I am sure it would fit the bill nicely.

and thanks, yeah, the lineart has a certain lvl of quality that I absolutely demand. Its by far my strongest suit, which makes it easy. I should check out the histograms of said lineart, there's a pretty even level of dark detail and light space evenly spread around a character, and it isn't until I look at a piece in full and sort of unfocus my attention that I can find the 'weak' spots here and there that bug me. Ultimately at the end of said lineart creation I get that nice sense of euphoria that all us artists pursue (if I have drawn what I want to, in this case 100%, damn I love this piece) whereas with my colouring skills I am constantly beset by my lack of knowledge and intimate relationship with my tools I am using. Arg! I've rendered his head in colour 4 times now, none of them I like! Spoiled I guess...

thanks for the in depth comment, I am now getting, I guess, popular enough to be picky and delight in the deeper comments I receive and rather discard the 'mass fav and watch and no further activity' BOTS DA seems to attract...
