I got bored in photoshop class because the professor was teaching how to use layers and filters and I know all about those, so I drew this sketch. Then I when to my next class where I had all of my work done already, so I basically had a free 5 hour class. Not wanting to waste time, I spent the period coloring this.So yeah, here's DC Comic's character Raven, A.K.A Rachel Roth, as she appears in the Teen Titans animated series and in the DC Comics universe.

Great job on both versions of Raven, I like her darker history in the comics but think her TV version has a more unique character design.

Yeah, but that's pretty normal for me. Most of the time, people watch me to learn my style, no matter what I'm drawing. I remember drawing a big breasted girl wearing a bikini during one of my history classes and the teacher, while lecturing, walked pass my desk and glanced at it. I was so focused on the picture that I didn't notice him for several seconds before I finally looked up and he went back to teaching. After class, he called me up and told me that while the picture was very well drawn, he wanted me not to draw that kind of stuff, for HIS sake, not because I was in trouble. So now when people look at me funny, it just makes me chuckle and keep drawing.

Your work is as impressive as ever. What's more the coloring is fantastic. There's a few times when the coloring for pics seems like a last-minute thought and looks like it was slapped over the lineart but your colors actually look like a part of the scenery, like they're supposed to be there. Awesome work as usual!
Huh...I never noticed it until you pointed it out but the anime Teen Titans SORELY reflect their comic book counterparts...I mean SORELY! Comic book Raven's face alone has more detail than anime Raven's entire body! Kudos to you for accurately capturing what these differing art styles look like and not getting confused in the process!

Wait, so they are the same person? I know of Raven from Teen Titans. She is my favorite character. I did not know she had a different version. Anyways very awesome. Great detail and overall feeling. The background is totally sweet too.

A most excellent interlude between comic and TV Raven. Lovely work recreating both styles of the characters.
You know I always did find it interesting how Rachael has skin tone in the comic, but her cartoon counterpart is pale as the moon. It's kind of nice to see their skin so close to compare

Yeah I never understood the design change either. I mean Raven mother had a normal skin tone in the series [link] so it just didn't make much sense to me

I've been reading the new "Titans" comics (like the one you showed me with Rachel and Starfire
The art has been good (at points) though. I like Rachel's artwork.
What do you think of the Titans artwork and the artwork Tom?

Well I think the artwork for all of the Titans has been pretty spot on from the beginning; although, the artist of the first seven issues tended to add a little too much cross hatch detail to the male figures and the was some continuity issues with the art at times.
What really killed it for me was the beginning story line, Raven turning evil again. The story is better now but man that was unnecessary considering it's been done twice before that.

I agree on both. Most of the first issue was really full page spreads anyways. Luckily no double page spreads.
The thing with Raven made no sense, and they even talked about the two times she went evil already.
Gotta admit though, it was funny when Beast Boy went too Raven's school as a "bear-agram" and her expsression. Think that was funny?
