half of you are crying and half of you are probably confused
I may have grown up with the first movie but Mewtwo’s Origin short before the movie was something I only recently came across and by god as if I already didn’t feel bad enough for Mewtwo ;-;

I hate that the American version we grew up with cut that out, it was originally the beginning of the movie, but at least they still dubbed it

it gives such a good background to Mewtwo's reasons for doing what he did when he woke up, it's not just because he's in captivity, it's because he's emotionally unstable and depressed/angry without even knowing why

Yeah, too bad they wanted him to seem less sympathetic and more of a bad guy, they thought kids wouldn’t be able to understand if it wasn’t a black and white bad guy vs good guy thing which is pretty dumb, I mean even as a kid I still felt bad for him and liked him XD

same tbh, I didn't really think of him as a villain at all actually! In my mind there wasn't a true villain in the movie other than the scientists. My mind was stuck on "pokemon aren't bad" so to me Mewtwo couldn't actually be bad

I never seen the short in the DVD and I was thinking play where's the rest of it. I remember Seeing shots of the Japanese version on the Internet at the time period yes I had early Internet access. And let me tell you 56K modems were considered a high end. Anyways, I finally got the entire Japanese undubbed version. When I saw it and compared it to the DVD I was all what the hell.
