this is why he speaks with telepathy

Since this virus has taken hold, you should totally do a little comic of Mew and MewTwo to have everybody Observe Hand Washing ! The results would be LEGENDARY AND EPIC!

You know... The sad thing would be if that had been the first time anyone heard Mewtwo's voice - even themself.
Mewtwo has no reason to speak, and with that origin, well that doesn't exactly give one the desire to speak.

So used to speaking in his own head, now that he’s let his guard down more being in a more stable environment, a slip up like letting out his actual cry is more likely to happen

Well, technicaly speaking, there is no MewTWO as a separate species, geneticaly he is still Mew (with a few mods attached here and there), he was only nicknamed Mew2 by humans. Apparently it is a common practice in that universe to just glue "2" to anything you geneticaly modify, they did it with humans too.

I'm loving Mewtwo's reaction (kitty noise!!!) but I'm loving how he lets Pikachu play with his tail (I'm picturing the kicks being like a cat who grabbed a foot/prey and fast-kicking to gore it XD)

I’m actually inclined to think this is a bit of a revelation for mewtwo
it makes perfect sense that his mind was more active than his voice and it was so much more natural for him to speak telepathically - and the depressive experiences and confusion further trips the instinct to withdraw - in this case, his under practiced urge to speak.
but now that Mewtwo is now comfortable enough to entertain pikachu (among other things before hand) like this with his tail, the sudden shock of a ballon popping jarred his instinct to yelp- which is a completely foreign experience for him
and he’d definitely be stunned:
“Was that my voice? My actual voice? I can’t believe I could be startled like that. My vocal cords sound so foreign, even primitive..........”
yep totally a potential skin crawling kinda weird feeling moment.
and I love the expressions as always. I just noticed that mew and pikachu are completely shocked too.
mew: “ Baby’s first words.....?”
pikachu: “Incredible, he is more like us than he let’s on after all...”
*mewtwo exe is running.... please wait.....*
And considering the intrigue, my imagination makes me think of young mewtwo’s voice from the movie intro is what he sounds like physically (doesn’t have too but it’s my impression) and yes- higher pitched and panicked than in the movie- totally jarring that such a cute and even silly noise could possibly come from such a brooding serious pokemon

It was a little too late for me to realize in my first reply, but Mewtwo just said "mew" in his outcry. Granted that's part of his name in the first place, but at the same time he's still a clone of Mew himself. I wonder if that also means he not only sounds like Mew, but also says Mew's name instead of Mewtwo. That would be even more funny for how much he's adopted from his origonal counterpart. Not on his voice, but also his name calling as well. XD
