Mewtwo trembling, even after realizing it was only Ash and that Ash wasn't going to hurt him! Mewtwo suffers PTSD and Ash recognizes that and he cries because he feels that no one and no pokemon, no matter what, deserves that.

Ash has a lot of sympathy for any pokemon, though. Remember how he never even forces Pikachu to go into his pokeball? Or Charmander who was out in the rain with only a leaf to protect his tail flame. That being said, though, I think that maybe Team Rocket (Jessie, James and Meowth) can be along those same lines. While Ash does battle with wild pokemon in order to catch them, neither Jessie nor James have actually battled the pokemon that join them. It's more of an invitation. I actually wonder how Mewtwo would react to seeing/meeting those three.

You gotta love Ash for instilling a sense of emotion and heart in a Pokemon or Trainer that usually has such a cold, unfeeling exterior. Β Mewtwo always cane off as the coldest and more feared PokΓ©mon among the whole pantheon and the fact that such a naive, benevolent and brave 10-year-old child is able to come through to its real emotions shows how much of a guardian angel this PokΓ©mon Master is.

He's made progress. He allowed Ash to hug him. Though I admit I thought if he ever runs into Team Rocket again, maybe he will charge/fight them shouting (telepathically) that this was for making Ash sad.

This hits close to home for me. I have very bad anxiety so I react very badly to people touching me from behind without warning. If itβs in public place filled with strangers, I will quite literally whirl around and hit them. I then start having a panic attack. Even if itβs in my own home and someone pats my shoulder from behind without warning I will shudder, grimace and squirm away/out of reach. It took my older brother seeing me do this to not just him but my nana to realize it wasnβt anything personal against him. He got a lot more understanding after that.Β

Mew? Wonder what circumstances would lead that adorable bean to hiss at something ._. Then again I'm sure there's lots of things that it'd find irritating or threatening. We're so used to Mewtwo being the grump that Mew being grumpy or irate is an intriguing thought x3
