Aww. This was a wholesome little comic. Mewtwo is loved and always will be. He was never shown it to begin with. Unless you count Amber but that was only for a short period of time. Would Mewtwo ever meet the clones he made from the first movie again?

Mewtwo really must have not really thought much of being startled once the surprise wore off (and the reminder that Ash needs to be more careful still) itβs the first time I can remember him being taken so off guard by something for him to un-furrow his brow in confusion.Β
He is definitely better Though clearly soft emotions arenβt really felt much what with him clinging to technicalities and indirectly invoking them ... maybe heβs just more at peace than he appears and heβs in no big rush to directly communicate it - or even think about the past even though there are still cobwebs yet to clear out.
Iβm reminded all over that Two didnβt get to be a kid so empathy that causes tears of sadness and tears of joy is potentially near impossible for him, let alone understand them. (At least for now

I was wondering why there was a noticeable delay with the next one. This is a really big comic.
Poor Ash. He's really trying to be good to Mewtwo and help him learn to enjoy life, but this was clearly the point where he felt like it was starting to seem futile since he finally upset or alarmed Mewtwo enough to be ready to retaliate with lethal force if needed.
This is probably the most precious interaction between the two of them thus far. Mewtwo finally voices his appreciation for Ash's efforts and it makes the whole thing so heartwarming to see.

yeah I wanted them to have some kind of heart to heart again, last time Mewtwo was asleep, and the time before it was mostly one sided with Ash giving his reasons for pushing Mewtwo out of the path of a falling tree with no regard to his own safetyΒ
