Description
"I sorta just now noticed how pretty these trees are. Or maybe they were never pretty and suddenly magic happened. Dunno.*sigh* I can't even count how much time I spent on trees with Kini. That was nice. I wish it could happen again, even if just for a moment."
Hey, you! First time seeing Anza? Then why don't you
check out the official Anza tumblr over HERE ?
Today is Anza's 3rd anniversary! It hasn't been going very well for the last few months, sadly, and I'm afraid it won't get much better anytime soon, but the comic is not forgotten. This image is proof - a much needed foliage upgrade happened! I think I'm still not done with it, but I'll have to see if I can even do the last thing I have in mind.
Also I think I'll do the speed ending variant (push the story with no fillers), but that'll still take a while to happen. Gotta get some things done first. I just think that's the best thing to do.

I'm glad the trees received an overhaul. Tiny things like this make everything better in the long run.
You might already do this... you'll prolly end up having to do what video games do where you create a LOD layer for very far distance geometry, but then leave the godly high poly trees for the close ups.
Happy Birthday, Anza!

Sadly LODs aren't a thing in offline rendering, or maybe there is something I don't know, or hadn't realized (HINT: that's probably it). But it's not that much of a problem, really. It would be a problem if they were like millions of polys each!
Thanks!

Very pretty piece. Sorry to hear that things aren't going so well.

Things are going relatively well, just not the way they should be. Anza was supposed to be a comic, you know. I'll get there eventually.
Thanks!

Acacia? Compound leaves with many little leaflets are certainly a good way to test your foliage capabilities.

Hah, yeah, but this is still done on the cheap (not really). The compound leaves are textured on, but that doesn't stop each tree from having 200,000-500,000 polys in total, since the leaf planes have 12 polys each (I wanted them to have form; flat planes are crap, unless you have really small and simple leaves). Then there are also the bushes and grass. Thanks to this foliage upgrade, the entire Anza scene went from around 440,000 polys to nearly 14 million. But it's so worth it. ;A;

Very lovely scenery! I love that the touch of green because it really pops out from the brown.
I hope that you have a great and blessed day/night!
