Description
So, here's the character development timeline, from a simple kid to his present state being an augmented Raptor.I wanted to convey possibly the feel, that even being a loyalist, Torturer was never fit for the job, and it was quite predictable that he'd defect.
Now to answer a few questions on the character.
- What chapter is he from?
Initially, the Emperor's Wolves chapter. It's listed in the Codex Astartes as Chapter of unknown, possibly late founding and mostly unknown history. Geneseed derivated from Space Wolves, whom Torturer, ironically, hates.
The 6th Assault Company of said chapter got lost in the Warp, and later returned as a Khornate warband with a high level of Raptor deployment. This reflects the Khorne-worshipping of the character.
- The kid looks weedy, he'd never make into an Astartes
Astartes are made through surgery, and potential recruits are taken based on many factors, not just visible strength. Torturer was a spoiled offspring of a high-ranking aristocrat and head of the Zobeslaus House branch on Tarsus, Scintilla, and was intensely trained in martial hand-to-hand combat since childhood - this resulted in his recruiting.
-Why's the Scout so sad?
To reflect the fact that the character was ultimately pissed of by his transmutation into an Astartes and never let go off that bitterness untill his betrayal.
-The charcter in his loyalist days looks a lot like your BP character, Blind. The fuck?
Both characters are partially - Torturer bigger, defo - self-inserts and their physique is based on mine. Naturally, they look similair.
-Why did the character's backpack changed from newer to older?
Armor parts were lost often during irresponsible battle tactics. Same went for the backpack, which was taken from the old company's relic stock.
Why'd a Khorne worshipper go Slaanesh? That's heresy!
Why the fuck not?)

Hello! I'm a great fan of Slaanesh, Emperor's Children in general, and Lucius the Eternal in particular. But you're art...
I admire you for the creation of your character, Torturer, who has so much personality! Sometimes I think you have put your entire soul on him, it's just incredible!
I wish him a long life of pleasures and, for you, the reward for your unbeatable talent!

Damned fascinating. Damned fascinating. Torture though this is 40k, I think this, despite the very concept art style of this, almost depicts the effect war can have on a man. Christ, how inhuman it is in the end. Great work- And still love Torturer. You should update him at some point, man, give him some new gear, new alliances once you get bored of the current. Side note- I miss your blood pact soldiers :<

I love your ability to add severity to your characters personality in conjunction with showing the intensity of 40k warfare in its very grittiest and darkest forms. You capture how Slaanesh and Chaos in general shape his growth. it shows a great sense of...'maturity' is too bland a word, but in a sense how he begins to expand his younger boundaries wider and wider with age [and he still has a few weaknesses to make him interesting, even difficult]. Overall your character covers a great breadth of changes.
...so yeah i guess thats just nice to see someone put some real work into a character...

(from your discussion with ~ImperialAssassin) "For an evil character, he(Torturer)'s also not enough selfish and etc. "
That suprised me, I never got such an impression as a watcher/reader. Especially since (at last for me) Slaanesh is mainly about selfishness.

Well, that would be seen in later fanfic chapters.
And slaanesh is about perfection and self-indulgence, but not necessary selfishness.
As I said, the character isnt the run of the mill GW villain, and not that one-dimensional.

Its silly to think that Chaos has any "rules" of conduct in the first place. Thats why its Chaos, ever man is free to forge his own path. Perfection by any means, and by any its really ANY. You just need to stop thinking it of in terms of pure evil.

(fff I decided to stay and write back to it , even If I missed my last bus home because of it. But I need time to think and focus on hitting in right keyboard buttons. It's freezing cold and my hands are shaking)
Fuck, whatever I wite I delete- nothing sounds as I want to.... I'm sitting here like an idiot and argueing with myself.
You know, whenever I thought about Slaanesh in these terms I felt that it must be a trap... somehow. That it's too... perfect like this, and god born from such a depravation can't be that 'good', but on other site he IS a perfection, so...
But maybe I'm looking on it the wrong way, maybe it's not about the way of fulfilling one's goals, but about goals themeselfs, the needs that Slaanesh is intensifying, that needs and wantings that he's patronizing are alredy distorted or...
But as you said, ever man is free to forge his own patch. So it's his own choise what he wants to, and how he'll made it.
On the other side are't the Chaos Gods who manipulate the mortals, corrupt them and treat like the pawns? Not that the Imperium doesn't, but werent they created as a resemblance of opposites like chaos/order, what was ment to be like wrong/right? I know that GW's creation is not straight black/white, because Imperium, pushed as protagonist is not plain good, but Chaos is created as something opposite, something 'worse'. Maybe it'n not ment to, maybe I'm dumb. As you said, yes, it's chaos anyways, and cahos is.... chaos. And even if, GW crew are not the oracle, their ideas might be better or worse and It's not a must to follow everything they are trying to (don't delude ourselfs) sell. But...
...
The longer I think about it, the more I feel that I don't underestand it at all. But I really like to underestand things, so I'll probably spend another few days thinking about it. Even if it's only a game and I have better things to do.
And now I'll for sure be this silly to push 'Add Comment' button and spam your comment sections with this shit.

Hey TD, I've always wondered.. How come you associate yourself with Chaos and not the Imperium? I mean, Chaos stands for anarchy, betrayal, disloyalty and self idulgence, whilst the Imperium stands for nationalism, cultural conservatism, preservation of racial purity and the utter destruction of liberal views on religion and culture. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Chaos doesn't really seem to be your game..

Nopey. Imperuim is a communist theocracy built on american hooray-patriotism footing.
Chaos stands for individualism, transhumanism and becoming more and more powerful, while the imperium is all about shooting soldiers in the back of the head. That's why I like Chaos more.

lillbro In reply to TD-Vice [2011-11-20 20:58:34 +0000 UTC]
Well, yeah, trudat about the Imperium being a theocracy, but I would hardly describe it as communist. Based on it's totalitarian rule, as well as it's political and sociological hierarchy, the Imperium is more similar to a national-socialistic soceity. And even though it's driving patriotism is based on, well, "american hooray-patriotism footing", it's admirable patriotism still.
As for Chaos, their transhumanistic ideals are completely inherited from the Imperium and the Adeptus Mechanicus. The only difference there is that the forces of chaos has taken their transhumanism to the the extent of mutating humans with xenos DNA and organs, Slaanesh cultists in particular.

lillbro In reply to TD-Vice [2011-11-21 03:31:56 +0000 UTC]
Oh cmon! It's too National-socialistic .. It's the same form of fascistic construct of military and police as Nazi-Germany, the same class system based on rewarded merit and ability, just as strong opposition to democracy, liberalism, capitalism and equality, and they owe an almost fanatical devotion to one central leader, whom the entire empire (or Reich if you will
) stands below. It's a society where self-sacrifice is expected if needed, and if the Emperor (or why not the Fuhrer) demands it, any one part of that society would gladly put a gun to his own head.
They have an active organ that specializes in rooting out and eliminating heresy or mutants (like marxists or jews), or people associating with such. It's a constantly expanding organization that aims to claim the entire world under it's own rightful rule, and does so with relentless determination and prefers not to suffer any diplomacy to any one, unless they would encounter a soceity that is somewhat useful to them. For instance, the Imperium have on rare occasions temporarily allied themselves with xenos for the greater good of the Imperium, like the Tau (see whut i did there).
Their is also another nation included within the Imperium, without the exact same ideals, but still the same goal of an all ruling empire. The main point of this is that even though the Imperium won't acknowledge the political and social ideology, nor some heretical aspects of the people and culture of the allied nation (I'm of course talking about the Adeptus Mechanicus, or perhaps Musolinis Kingdom of Italy, or maybe the Great Japanese Empire.. hmm?) the alliance is necessary and provide to the empires cause.
I mean please, okay okay, none of that had anything to do with actual national-socialism, but admit it, the Imperium is fucking Nazi Germany in space . I mean, if you wanna play with it, try to exchange some of the words. Adeptus Arbites = Gestapo, The inquisition and the storm troopers = SS, High lords of terra = NSDAP etc....

They are quite blatantly based off TD's life.
Childhood: Spoiled Child (At least from TD's Adult Perspective)
Scout/Early Teens: Ordinary but slightly resentful
Assualt Marine/Late Teens: Still ordinary, but even more resentful, and starting to develop hatred towards society and the system.
Khorne Raptor: Raging against the system, drops from university, intense and open hatred. Becomes a Neo-Nazi
Unaffiliated Raptor:
Sinks into Depression. Sees a Psychologist.
Slaanesh Raptor:
Maintains Neo-Nazism but is more stable, and arguably more subtle than before.
All gleaned off his own journals. Don't hesitate to tell em I'm incorrect, which I probably am.
